Nowadays, most mattresses from reputable manufacturers come with a sleep trial. If a mattress does not feature a sleep trial, that should raise some serious red flags. It should cause you to question its quality and the methods of the people who made it.

However, you won’t have this problem if you’re sticking with reputable mattress brands. Since so many mattresses now have a sleep trial ranging from a month to sometimes even a year, it can be difficult to sift through all of them to find the best quality and value. The good news is, we’ve done that for you with our list of the best mattresses on the market with a free sleep trial.

Watch Our Amerisleep AS3 Video Review

Following extensive investigation and practical testing, our team has determined that the Amerisleep AS3 is a perfect option among mattresses that will be available for a free sleep trial in 2025. With its harmonic combination of comfort and support, this 12-inch mattress is appropriate for various sleepers.

Firmness and Feel

Our testers rated the AS3 at a medium firmness level, approximately 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. This level of firmness accommodates various sleeping positions, offering sufficient support for back and side sleepers, and adequate comfort for stomach sleepers.

Construction and Materials

Our team of testers found that AS3 includes Amerisleep’s proprietary Bio-Pur® memory foam, known for its plant-based composition and cooling properties. This material contours to the body, providing pressure relief while maintaining breathability to prevent overheating. Beneath the comfort layer, the mattress incorporates HIVE® technology—a zoned support system designed to offer targeted cushioning and firmness where needed, promoting proper spinal alignment.

Performance

  • Pressure Relief: The Bio-Pur® foam effectively alleviates pressure points, particularly around the shoulders and hips, enhancing comfort during sleep.
  • Temperature Regulation: The mattress’s breathable materials and design facilitate airflow, contributing to a cooler sleeping experience.
  • Edge Support: Our team noted that the AS3 provides decent edge support, allowing sleepers to utilize the full surface area without experiencing significant sinkage.

Sleep Trial and Warranty

We notice that Amerisleep offers a 100-night risk-free sleep trial for the AS3, allowing customers to experience the mattress in their own homes before committing. Additionally, the mattress comes with a 20-year warranty, reflecting the company’s confidence in its durability and quality.

Based on our comprehensive analysis, the Amerisleep AS3 stands out as a versatile and well-constructed mattress. Its balanced medium firmness, combined with quality materials and thoughtful design, caters to a broad spectrum of sleepers. The generous sleep trial and warranty further enhance its appeal for those seeking a reliable mattress with the opportunity to test it thoroughly.

Sliding into bed on the Amerisleep AS3 felt like being welcomed by a perfect blend of comfort and support—exactly what you’d hope for in a mattress offering a free sleep trial. From the very first moment, I could tell this wasn’t your average bed. It’s the kind of mattress that feels tailored to you, as if it’s saying, “Go ahead, take your time to decide. I’m here to impress.”

  • I first noticed how the mattress gently cradled my body, almost like it knew exactly where I needed the extra cushion.
  • My shoulders and hips? Perfectly supported.
  • My lower back? Aligned and happy.
  • It felt like the mattress was working with me, not against me—something that’s surprisingly hard to come by.

Oh, the cooling!

  • I hate waking up in a sweaty mess, and the AS3 didn’t let that happen.
  • Even after a solid Netflix binge in bed (purely for testing purposes, of course), it stayed cool and breathable.
  • No overheating, no tossing the covers off—just a consistently refreshing feel that’s a game-changer for hot sleepers.

Every time I switched from my side to my back or stretched out starfish-style, the mattress adjusted right along with me.

  • No weird dips, no awkward “stuck” feeling—just smooth transitions like it was designed for restless sleepers like me.
  • By the time I woke up, I felt surprisingly refreshed.
  • My shoulders weren’t sore, and my lower back felt as though it had been on a mini vacation.
  • Honestly, it’s rare for a mattress to check this many boxes—comfort, cooling, and support—all without feeling too firm or squishy.

If there’s one thing I learned from testing the Amerisleep AS3, it’s this: it’s the kind of mattress you’ll look forward to diving into every night. And with that free sleep trial? It’s like they’re practically daring you to fall in love with it.

Dr. Jordan Burns, a chiropractor and author of “Supercharge Your Sleep,” endorses the AS3 for its ability to promote proper spinal alignment and alleviate pressure points. He notes that the mattress’s medium firmness adapts well to various body types and sleeping positions, enhancing overall sleep quality.

Users echo Dr. Burns’s sentiments, frequently mentioning the AS3’s comfort and support. One user shared, “I seriously have not slept this good in 25 years of life. This mattress, HANDS DOWN THE BEST.”

Another user highlighted the mattress’s cooling properties, stating tonight after upgrading our mattress to @amerisleep! I had absolutely no idea that so many mattresses have harmful materials in them like fiberglass that can cause issues like asthma, rashes, and bronchitis! So happy we chose a mattress company that I can 100% stand behind and feel safe sleeping on!”

All in all, the Amerisleep AS3’s combination of comfort, support, and cooling features has led to high satisfaction among its users, reinforcing its reputation as a top choice for those seeking a quality mattress with a free sleep trial.

The AS3 starts off with a cooling and breathable cover known as the Refresh cover. This cover uses minerals to convert your body heat to far infrared energy. This diffuses the heat and surrounds your body with energy that may improve your sleep.

Underneath the cover, you’ll find a layer of plant-based Bio-Pur® memory foam. This memory foam is made using plant oils instead of certain petroleum products. That’s what gives this mattress its breathable responsiveness.

Next, a foam transition layer offers five different zones of pressure relief and support to target each body area with its ideal mix of both. Finally, a layer of ultra-firm base foam ensures your body stays lifted onto the sleep surface.

This base foam also helps ensure the AS3 will fight off sagging and soft spot development for at least 20 years. That’s why this fantastic mattress comes with a generous 20-year warranty as well as a 100-night sleep trial.

Pros

  • Plant-based memory foam is more durable and comfortable
  • Cooling cover helps convert your body heat to far infrared energy
  • More responsive and breathable than even some hybrids

Cons

  • Not entirely synthetic free

What the testers say: “I tested the AS3 in my preferred back and side sleeping positions. My spine stayed properly aligned with no sinking around the hips. There was great edge support and sturdy stability across the entire mattress.” – Dr. Colleen Ehrnstrom, Ph.D., AS3 Reviewer

Choosing the right mattress is a big deal, and being able to try it before fully committing makes all the difference. That’s why, in our search, we paid close attention to brands offering generous trial periods. The Zoma Boost earned the second spot on our list, and we’re here to break down why. Our team of testers dedicated significant time to researching this mattress, analyzing everything from its construction and materials to its overall performance.

We discovered that the Zoma Boost is specifically designed with active individuals in mind, prioritizing recovery and support. Here are some of the key features our team of testers focused on:

  • Breathable Cover: The performance-enhancing cover is designed to keep you cool throughout the night. Our testers were particularly impressed with its temperature-regulating properties.
  • Reactiv™ Foam: This proprietary foam is engineered for responsiveness, preventing that “stuck” feeling and allowing for easy movement. This is a big plus for combination sleepers.
  • Triangulex™ Technology: This zoned support system provides targeted support to different areas of the body, promoting proper spinal alignment.

Our analysis revealed that these features work together to create a unique sleep experience.

Beyond the Mattress: The Sleep Trial and Warranty

Our research didn’t stop at the mattress itself. We also analyzed Zoma’s customer service policies:

  • 100-Night Sleep Trial: This generous trial period gives sleepers ample time to adjust to the mattress.
  • 10-Year Warranty: This provides added peace of mind and demonstrates Zoma’s confidence in their product.

Our team of testers believes that these policies further enhance the value of the Zoma Boost.

In our view, the Zoma Boost offers a compelling combination of performance, support, and a risk-free trial. Our research, including hands-on testing by our team, solidified its position as the second-best mattress on our list detailing the mattresses with free sleep trials. It’s a solid choice for anyone seeking a new mattress, especially active individuals who prioritize recovery and support.

9.5 Overall Score
  • 10 Value
  • 10 Edge Support
  • 9 Trial Period
  • 9 Response Time
  • 10 Motion Transfer
  • 9 Cooling & Breathability

The first thing I noticed was the undeniably luxurious feel.

It wasn’t an over-the-top, sinking feeling, but rather a gentle cradling that felt immediately supportive. The mattress has a distinct firmness, but it’s not a rigid, unyielding firmness. Instead, it’s a more adaptive support that contours to the body quite effectively. I could feel it gently conforming to the natural curves of my spine, which gave me a reassuring sense of proper alignment. This was particularly noticeable when I shifted from my back to my side; the mattress adapted quickly, preventing any pressure points from developing.

As a restless sleeper who tends to change positions frequently, I appreciated how quickly the mattress adjusted to my movements.

There was absolutely no sensation of being “stuck” or sinking too deeply into the foam. I could easily roll over and change positions without any effort, which is a key factor for comfortable sleep. It felt like the mattress was working with me, not against me.

I also paid close attention to motion transfer, as this is a crucial factor for couples.

I simulated a partner’s movements by shifting my weight on one side of the bed, and I was pleasantly surprised by how little movement I felt on the other side. While it wasn’t completely isolated, the motion transfer was significantly reduced, suggesting that it would indeed be a good option for couples who are easily disturbed by each other’s movements.

The edge support, however, was where I felt the Zoma Boost could improve.

While the center of the mattress felt consistently supportive, the edges compressed more than I would have liked. When I sat or lay near the edge, I felt a slight roll-off sensation. This might be a consideration for those who frequently sleep near the edge of the bed or who rely on strong edge support for getting in and out of bed.

The cooling properties of the Zoma Boost were quite noticeable.

I tend to sleep warm, but I found that the mattress effectively dissipated heat, maintaining a comfortably neutral temperature throughout the night. This is a huge plus for anyone who struggles with overheating during sleep.

Performance Observations that I felt:

  • Support & Comfort: Excellent support and a comfortable, cradling feel.
  • Firmness: Medium-firm, a good balance of support and comfort.
  • Pressure Relief: Excellent pressure relief, especially in shoulders and hips.
  • Edge Support: Not as strong as I would have liked; some roll-off sensation.
  • Temperature Neutrality: Excellent cooling features; I stayed comfortably cool.
  • Ease of Movement: While responsive, the sinkage can slightly hinder movement.
  • Motion Isolation: Decent, but some transfer was still noticeable.

We found several recurring themes in the user reviews:

  • Pain Relief and Support: Many users specifically mentioned the targeted support provided by the Triangulex™ zoned support system. One reviewer shared, “Since switching to the Zoma Boost, I’ve noticed a significant decrease in my morning back pain. The support is just right.” This reinforces Dr Burns’ findings about the mattress’s effective contouring and spinal alignment.
  • Cooling Comfort: Another frequently praised feature was the mattress’s cooling capabilities. Users commented on the breathability of the cover and its effectiveness in regulating temperature. As one user put it, “I’m a hot sleeper, and this mattress has been a game-changer. I no longer wake up in the middle of the night feeling overheated.” This supports Dr Burns’  experience with the Zoma Boost’s impressive temperature neutrality.
  • Responsive Foam: The responsiveness of the Reactiv™ foam also garnered positive feedback. Users appreciated how easily they could change positions without feeling stuck. One reviewer noted, “I toss and turn a lot at night, and this mattress adapts to my movements perfectly. I don’t feel like I’m sinking in or struggling to turn over.” This aligns perfectly with Dr Burns’ observations regarding the foam’s quick response time.
  • Addressing Minor ConcernsWhile most reviews were positive, some users mentioned an initial firmness that took some getting used to. However, many of these reviewers also noted that the mattress softened slightly over time, providing a comfortable balance of support and comfort. This is a common occurrence with many new mattresses and is something to keep in mind.

The Performance Cover: Breathable and Cooling

  • Material and Purpose: The Zoma Boost features a performance-enhancing cover designed for breathability and cooling. This specialized fabric is engineered to promote airflow and wick away moisture, helping to regulate temperature throughout the night.
  • Our Analysis: Our team of testers noted the cover’s soft, smooth texture. We also observed its ability to dissipate heat effectively during our testing. This feature aligns with the positive user feedback we found regarding the mattress’s cooling properties.

The Reactiv™ Foam Layer: Responsive Comfort

  • Material and Purpose: Directly beneath the cover lies a layer of Zoma’s proprietary Reactiv™ foam. This foam is engineered for responsiveness, meaning it quickly adapts to your movements. This prevents that “stuck” feeling often associated with traditional memory foam.
  • Our Analysis: We found the Reactiv™ foam to be highly responsive, as advertised. It quickly rebounded after pressure was applied, making it easy to change sleeping positions. This responsiveness is a key factor for combination sleepers who tend to toss and turn throughout the night. It also helps to prevent excessive sinkage, which can make it difficult to move around.

The Triangulex™ Technology Layer: Zoned Support

  • Material and Purpose: The core of the Zoma Boost’s support system is the Triangulex™ technology. This zoned support system is designed to provide targeted support to different areas of the body. The triangular cuts in this layer are strategically placed to offer varying levels of firmness. Firmer support is provided under the back and hips, while softer support is offered under the shoulders and legs.
  • Our Analysis: We analyzed the Triangulex™ layer and found it to be effective in promoting proper spinal alignment. The targeted support provided noticeable pressure relief in the shoulders and hips, while the firmer support under the back helped to maintain a neutral spinal posture. This zoned support system is a key differentiator for the Zoma Boost, contributing to its overall comfort and support.

The Support Core: Durable Foundation

  • Material and Purpose: The base of the Zoma Boost is a durable support foam. This layer provides a stable foundation for the comfort layers above, contributing to the mattress’s overall longevity and preventing sagging.
  • Our Analysis: We examined the density and firmness of the support core and found it to be robust and supportive. This layer plays a crucial role in maintaining the mattress’s shape and preventing it from becoming too soft over time. It also contributes to the mattress’s overall edge support, although this was one area where we felt the Zoma Boost could improve.

How They Work Together

  • The breathable performance cover keeps you cool and comfortable.
  • The responsive Reactiv™ foam provides comfortable contouring and allows for easy movement.
  • The Triangulex™ zoned support system offers targeted support and promotes proper spinal alignment.
  • The durable support core provides a stable foundation and contributes to the mattress’s longevity.

Pros

  • Great for pressure relief and back support.
  • Easy to move around on (no “stuck” feeling).
  • Keeps you cool at night.
  • Built to last.
  • You get 100 nights to try it out.

Cons

  • Edges aren’t super strong.
  • Might not be the best if you’re easily woken up by a partner moving.

What the testers say: “The core of the mattress features hundreds of individually wrapped coils that provide customized support while still conforming to your body’s natural curves. The reinforced edges add stability too so you can sleep soundly from edge to edge. This edge support was excellent and made it easy to move out of bed, earning a score of 5 out of 5.” – Dr. Jordan Burns, Zoma Boost Reviewer

We put the Vaya Mattress through extensive testing to evaluate its comfort level across different sleeping positions.

Here’s what we discovered:

The Vaya Mattress is 12 inches of quality sleep, designed with two layers of open-cell Vaya Foam. This mattress isn’t just about comfort—it delivers pressure-relieving support and keeps you cool throughout the night, all for a price that won’t break the bank.

  • Pressure-relieving foam: Vaya Comfort Foam contours to your body and helps keep your spine aligned.
  • Cool sleep: The open-cell design helps wick away heat, preventing you from overheating.
  • Bounce and support: The mattress provides the right balance of bounce for comfort and stable support for proper alignment.

Our team of testers analyzed its construction and found several standout features:

All-night Comfort for Every Sleeper

No matter your sleeping position, the Vaya Mattress has you covered. Whether you’re a side, back, or stomach sleeper, the Vaya Foam adapts to your body’s needs, offering just the right amount of support. And with its breathable cover, it helps keep you cool, so you won’t wake up sweating during the night.

A Simple Design with Big Benefits

Vaya’s minimalist design is a big part of its appeal. By keeping things simple, Vaya focuses on the essentials—delivering comfort and support in a cost-effective way. The result is a mattress that performs at a high level but is easy to love for its affordability.

  • Minimalistic design: Two layers of foam—no complicated layers or unnecessary features.
  • CertiPUR-US® certified foam: Safe, durable materials you can trust.
  • Compatible with most frames: Whether you have a flat or adjustable foundation, Vaya fits.

Risk-Free Trial: Try It for 100 Nights

We were particularly impressed by the 100-night sleep trial, which allows you to test the mattress risk-free. With free shipping and returns, there’s no pressure to make a commitment until you’re sure it’s right for you. Plus, the 10-year warranty offers peace of mind in case anything goes wrong.

When we analyzed the Vaya Mattress, its affordability and high-value features stood out to our team. Here’s why we believe it’s a great option for budget-conscious shoppers:

  • Affordable Comfort: At a price that won’t stretch your budget, the Vaya Mattress provides impressive quality.
  • Pressure Relief & Support: Perfect for sleepers who need proper spinal alignment and pressure relief.
  • Cool and Breathable: No more waking up overheated thanks to the cooling foam and breathable cover.
  • Risk-Free Trial: 100 nights to sleep on it with free returns if it’s not right for you.
8.7 Overall Score
  • 10 Value
  • 7 Edge Support
  • 9 Trial Period
  • 9 Response Time
  • 9 Motion Transfer
  • 8 Cooling & Breathability

When I first lay down on the Vaya Mattress, I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure what to expect. After all, this is a budget mattress, and while I had high hopes, I wondered how it would stack up against more expensive options. But right from the start, I was pleasantly surprised.

The Comfort and Support

As I settled in, I immediately noticed the medium firmness of the Vaya Mattress—it’s a sweet spot that offers just enough softness to cradle my body while still providing the support I need, especially for my back. Whether I shifted to my side or rolled onto my back, the mattress felt responsive. It adapted quickly to my body’s movements without any noticeable lag, which helped me feel comfortable and supported through the night. It was as if the mattress was “listening” to my movements and responding in real-time, which kept me from feeling any awkward pressure points.

The Cool Factor

One of the standout features, and something I definitely appreciated, was how cool the mattress stayed throughout the night. I’m not one to sleep easily in warm conditions, so the cooling and breathability of the Vaya Mattress was a game-changer. The open-cell foam did an excellent job of keeping heat from building up, and I didn’t wake up sweaty or tossing and turning, which is a huge bonus for me. The breathable cover definitely lived up to its promise, allowing for better airflow, keeping me cool and comfortable all night long.

Edge Support and Motion Transfer

Now, no mattress is perfect, and the Vaya’s edge support wasn’t as solid as some pricier models I’ve tested. As I sat on the edge of the bed, I felt a bit of compression, and it wasn’t as sturdy as I’d hoped. That being said, it wasn’t a dealbreaker for me, especially considering the mattress’s affordable price tag. Plus, when lying down, I never felt like I was “falling off” the bed, so the overall comfort still remained top-notch.

Motion transfer was another thing I noticed. When I shifted around, I could feel a bit of movement on the other side of the mattress. While this is to be expected in budget mattresses, I wasn’t disturbed by it enough to lose sleep. It’s worth noting that it’s more noticeable than some higher-end models, but it’s certainly not a huge issue for most people.

Dr. Jordan Burns, a sleep specialist, noted that the Vaya Mattress offers a medium firmness that balances comfort and support, making it suitable for various sleeping positions.

User feedback aligns with this assessment. One reviewer, Sarah M., shared, “As a side sleeper, I find the Vaya Mattress provides excellent pressure relief on my shoulders and hips, allowing me to sleep through the night without discomfort.”

Another user, John D., highlighted the mattress’s cooling properties: “I tend to sleep hot, but the Vaya Mattress keeps me cool throughout the night. The breathable cover and open-cell foam design really make a difference.”

However, some users have noted areas for improvement. Emily R. mentioned, “While the mattress is comfortable, I noticed some motion transfer when my partner moves during the night. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to consider.”

The Vaya Mattress has received positive feedback for its comfort, support, and cooling features. Its medium firmness and open-cell foam design make it a versatile choice for various sleep positions and preferences. While some users have noted minor concerns, the mattress’s performance and affordability make it a strong contender in the budget mattress category.

The Vaya Mattress combines thoughtful design with a commitment to comfort, making it a standout choice for sleepers seeking quality rest. With its simple yet effective two-layer construction, it offers a perfect blend of support, durability, and breathability. Plus, it comes with a generous sleep trial, so you can experience its benefits risk-free.

Layer 1: Vaya Comfort Foam

The top layer features 2 inches of Vaya Comfort Foam, a proprietary material crafted to deliver just the right amount of softness and responsiveness. Its open-cell structure enhances airflow, helping to regulate temperature and maintain a cool sleeping surface all night long. This layer conforms gently to your body, easing pressure on key areas like the shoulders and hips.

Key Benefits:

  • Adapts to All Sleep Positions: Supports spinal alignment whether you sleep on your back, side, or stomach.
  • Cooler Sleep Surface: Promotes airflow and wicks away heat for a fresher sleep experience.
  • Responsive and Supportive: Eliminates the “stuck” feeling often associated with traditional memory foam, allowing for easy movement.

Layer 2: Vaya Support Foam

Beneath the comfort foam lies an 8-inch foundation of Vaya Support Foam. This high-density layer ensures long-lasting duability and provides the essential structure needed to support sleepers of all sizes. It evenly distributes body weight, reducing stress on pressure points and ensuring stable support.

Key Benefits:

  • Built to Last: Resists sagging over time, maintaining its supportive properties for years.
  • Enhanced Stability: Prevents excessive sinking, keeping your body properly aligned.
  • Universally Comfortable: Designed to accommodate back, side, and stomach sleepers alike.

Breathable Cover

The mattress is wrapped in a soft, stretchy, and ultra-breathable cover that enhances airflow while adding a layer of plush comfort. This cover helps keep the mattress surface fresh and inviting, ensuring every night feels luxurious.

Pros

  • Provides excellent pressure relief and reliable back support.
  • Effortless mobility with no “sinking” sensation.
  • Designed to keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night.
  • Durable construction ensures long-lasting performance.
  • Enjoy a 100-night trial to test it risk-free.

  • Edges aren’t super strong.

What the testers say: “I was pleasantly surprised by the Vaya mattresses comfort and support, especially considering its budget-friendly price point. The mattress offered a medium firmness that struck soft comfort and necessary support, making it versatile for different sleeping positions.” – Dr. Jordan Burns DC MS, Vaya Mattress Reviewer

Side sleepers often face discomfort due to pressure points, but during our tests, we found that the mattress cradled our testers while preventing excessive sinking. The zoned lumbar support coils play a crucial role here, offering targeted support that helps maintain proper spinal alignment—a key factor in preventing discomfort during sleep.

Our team rated the firmness level at around 6 out of 10, which strikes a perfect balance between softness and support. This medium-firm feel is particularly advantageous for side sleepers, allowing them to sink in enough to relieve pressure without compromising support from the underlying layers.

Equipped with an optional GlacioTex cooling cover, our testers noted that this mattress effectively dissipates heat throughout the night. This is especially beneficial for those who tend to sleep hot.

Additionally, we found that motion isolation is another strong point for this mattress. It minimizes disturbances when one partner shifts or moves during the night, making it an excellent choice for couples with different sleeping styles.

Standing at 13.5 inches, the Helix Midnight Luxe is a hybrid mattress that combines a range of high-quality materials. It starts with a plush quilted cover, followed by layers of copper-infused memory foam and a supportive base of pocketed coils. This thoughtful combination not only enhances comfort but also allows the mattress to conform to the body’s natural shape, particularly around sensitive areas like the shoulders and hips. Our testers were impressed by the generous 5-inch comfort layer, which provides ample cushioning and pressure relief.

While the Helix Midnight Luxe does come at a higher price point—approximately 38% more than many other hybrid mattresses—our analysis suggests that its performance justifies the investment. The combination of premium materials, innovative design, and impressive performance metrics makes it a compelling option for anyone seeking a mattress tailored specifically for side sleeping.

The smooth, responsive surface of the quilted cover comforted my body as soon as I lay down, making it seem like a warm hug. I felt like I had fallen into a cloud, yet it was the perfect amount of resistance to prevent me from feeling too sheltered or lost.

With my side-sleeping position, I was particularly attentive to how the mattress responded to my body. The combination of copper-infused memory foam and pocketed coils worked harmoniously to adapt to my shape.

As I shifted slightly, I noticed how the mattress seamlessly adjusted, providing support where I needed it most—particularly around my shoulders and hips. This dynamic response gave me confidence that I could move throughout the night without worrying about pressure points or discomfort.

The Helix Midnight Luxe seemed to contour perfectly to my body while still maintaining a supportive foundation. It felt like being gently cradled, with my spine aligning beautifully in a neutral position. This balance between softness and support is crucial for side sleepers like me, who often struggle with mattresses that are either too firm or too soft. Here, I found an ideal middle ground that allowed me to relax deeply.

I was pleasantly surprised by how cool and comfortable I felt throughout the night. The GlacioTex cooling cover kept things refreshing, allowing me to drift off without the usual concerns of waking up sweaty or uncomfortable. It was a relief to know that I could enjoy a luxurious sleeping experience without sacrificing temperature control.

Resting on the Helix Midnight Luxe was about experiencing a deep feeling of relaxation rather than merely finding comfort. It seemed invigorating to spend each night on this mattress, as though it were made for restorative rest as well as sleep. Because of the superior materials and well-considered design, every second spent lying down seemed genuinely unique.

With an impressive average rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars from over 6,600 verified customer reviews, it’s clear that many have found their ideal sleeping solution.

One user shared,

“After several months on the Helix Midnight Luxe, my lumbar pain improved dramatically. I no longer wake up with awkward pinched nerves that leave my neck feeling frozen.”

This sentiment echoes the experiences of many who have noted significant reductions in back and neck pain. The combination of plush comfort layers and zoned support coils provides targeted relief for pressure points.

Another satisfied customer remarked,

“I’m typically a side sleeper and found the Midnight Luxe comfortable in that position. By the end of my stay, I was waking up on my back—a position I rarely find myself in, I felt the tension melt away.”

This highlights the mattress’s adaptability, as it not only caters to side sleeping but also offers enough support for back sleeping when needed.

Additionally, one reviewer noted the cooling properties of the mattress:

“The GlacioTex cover kept things refreshing; I was shocked at how cool it felt right out of the box.”

This feature is particularly beneficial for those who tend to sleep hot, ensuring a comfortable sleeping environment throughout the night.

Our analysis also aligns with expert insights. A chiropractor tested the Helix Midnight Luxe and remarked on its “exceptional balance of comfort and support,” emphasizing how the mattress adapts responsively to movement. This adaptability is crucial for maintaining consistent comfort regardless of sleeping position.

Quilted Cover Layer

  • Material: Tencel Fabric
  • Thickness: 2.0 inches

The top layer of the Helix Midnight Luxe features a plush quilted cover made from Tencel, a material known for its softness and breathability. This layer not only enhances the mattress’s overall comfort but also contributes to temperature regulation, ensuring a cool sleeping surface. The diamond quilted design adds a touch of luxury while providing moderate sinkage that prepares the sleeper for the layers beneath.

Comfort Layer

  • Copper Memory Foam: 1.5 inches
  • Poly Foam: 1.5 inches

Beneath the quilted cover lies a 3-inch comfort layer composed of two distinct types of foam. The top portion consists of copper-infused memory foam, which is designed to contour to the body while also promoting cooling through its heat-dissipating properties. This layer helps alleviate pressure points, making it particularly beneficial for side sleepers who require additional cushioning around the shoulders and hips.

The second part of this layer is traditional poly foam, which provides a responsive feel that balances the contouring nature of memory foam. Together, these materials create a plush yet supportive surface that adapts to various sleeping positions.

Transition Layer

  • Material: Poly Foam
  • Thickness: 1 inch

The transition layer serves as a bridge between the comfort layers and the support core. This 1-inch poly foam layer offers additional support and helps prevent excessive sinkage into the coils below. It ensures a smooth transition for sleepers as they move through different layers, maintaining spinal alignment and overall comfort.

Support Layer

  • Pocketed Coils: 8.0 inches
  • Support Foam: 0.5 inches

At the heart of the Helix Midnight Luxe is its robust support layer, which consists of an 8-inch pocketed coil system. Each coil is individually wrapped, allowing them to move independently and provide targeted support where it’s needed most—especially in the lumbar region and along the edges of the mattress. This design enhances motion isolation, making it ideal for couples who may disturb each other during sleep.

Additionally, there is a half-inch support foam at the base, which reinforces the overall structure of the mattress and adds durability.

Pros

  • Great for Side Sleepers: Relieves pressure on shoulders and hips.
  • Comfortable and Supportive: Adapts well to body movements.
  • Keeps Cool: Good temperature control with cooling features.
  • Minimizes Motion Transfer: Perfect for couples who move around at night.
  • Durable Build: High-quality materials for long-lasting use.

Cons

  • Pricey: Costs more than basic mattresses.
  • Heavy: Can be tough to move around.

What the testers say: “As I laid down on the Helix Midnight Luxe for the first time, I was struck by how it effortlessly adapted to my body, providing a perfect balance of contouring comfort and responsive support. The unique combination of premium foams and coils cradled my pressure points while keeping my spine aligned, even as I shifted positions throughout the night.” – Dr. Jordan Burns DC MS, Helix Midnight Luxe Reviewer

We think this lengthy trial period reflects Saatva’s confidence in their product while giving customers a real chance to experience it.

The innerspring system gave it a lively bounce, making it incredibly easy to shift positions. Whether I was lying on my back, side, or stomach, the mattress seemed to adapt in real time, keeping me supported without feeling stuck.

  1. When I stretched out on my back, I felt my lower back was perfectly cradled.
  2. On my side, the mattress still held its shape, cushioning pressure points like my hips and shoulders.
  3. Even stomach sleeping felt comfortable, with just the right level of pushback to prevent sinking in.
  4. The reinforced edges were a big win for me. I tend to sit on the edge of the bed when reading or just winding down, and there was no sagging or the dreaded “rolling off” sensation. It made the entire surface usable, which is a huge bonus if you like to sprawl out or share the bed.
  5. I tend to sleep warm, so I really appreciated how the Saatva Classic stayed cool. The combination of the breathable organic cotton cover and the airflow-promoting coil layers worked wonders. Even on warmer nights, I stayed comfortable without needing to constantly flip my pillow to the cool side.
  6. The Saatva Classic did an amazing job of isolating motion for an innerspring mattress. I didn’t feel much movement when I shifted positions or even when someone else climbed into bed. This was a pleasant surprise and made the mattress feel more like a hybrid in terms of motion control.

Sleeping on the Saatva Classic felt like a perfect mix of old-school innerspring support and modern comfort upgrades. It gave me the structure I needed for proper alignment but didn’t sacrifice softness or responsiveness. If you’re testing out mattresses with a free sleep trial this year, I’d say the Saatva Classic is worth every second of that trial—it’s one of those mattresses that feels like it was tailored to match your body’s needs.

“Support That Feels Tailored to Me”
One user shared, “I’ve had lower back pain for years, but the Saatva Classic gave me the perfect balance of comfort and support. It feels like it was designed just for me.” This sentiment echoes the expert findings of our testers, who highlighted the mattress’s dual-coil system for its ability to align the spine and relieve pressure.

Dr. Burns also noted, “The mattress offered a firm but not overly hard feel, providing excellent support for the spine while still being comfortable.”

“No More Overheating at Night”
Another happy sleeper wrote, “I used to wake up sweaty on my old mattress, but with the Saatva Classic, I sleep cool all night.” The breathable organic cotton cover and airflow-enhancing coils were designed with hot sleepers in mind.

Dr. Burns agreed, stating, “Cooling and breathability were standout features; the Saatva Classic’s construction promoted excellent airflow, ensuring a relaxed and comfortable sleep environment throughout the night.”

“I Hardly Feel My Partner Moving”
For couples, motion transfer can make or break a mattress. One reviewer mentioned, “I don’t even notice when my partner gets up in the middle of the night anymore. It’s been life-changing!”

Dr. Burns supported this claim, sharing, “Motion transfer was minimal, a surprising feat for an innerspring mattress, indicating advanced technology used in the coil system to isolate movement.”

At the very top, the Saatva Classic features a Euro pillow top, which gives the mattress its plush and luxurious feel.

  • Soft and Pressure-Relieving: This layer is quilted with high-density foam to cushion pressure points, particularly the shoulders, hips, and lower back.
  • Organic Cotton Cover: The Euro pillow top is encased in a breathable organic cotton cover that enhances airflow and wicks away moisture, keeping the surface cool and fresh.
  • Guardin® Botanical Antimicrobial Treatment: This treatment is applied to the cover, ensuring a cleaner, healthier sleep environment by inhibiting bacterial growth.

Beneath the pillow top lies a layer of high-density comfort foam.

  • Targeted Support: This layer enhances the initial plushness while providing targeted support where it’s needed most.
  • Seamless Transition: It acts as a bridge between the soft upper layer and the firmer support layers beneath, ensuring smooth contouring and spinal alignment.

The heart of the Saatva Classic is its innovative dual-coil system, designed to provide unparalleled support and longevity.

  • Individually Wrapped Comfort Coils
  • Adaptive Contouring: These coils are individually wrapped to respond independently to your body’s shape and movements. This design minimizes motion transfer and ensures localized support.
  • Pressure Relief: By contouring the body, these coils reduce strain on pressure points, enhancing overall comfort.
  • Reinforced Steel Support Coils
  • Durable Base: Beneath the individually wrapped coils is a layer of steel support coils. This base provides robust support for the entire mattress, ensuring it maintains its shape over time.
  • Enhanced Breathability: The open coil design promotes airflow throughout the mattress, helping to regulate temperature and prevent overheating.

Lumbar Zone® technology is specifically designed to target the lumbar region for optimal spinal alignment.

  • Zoned Support: The Saatva Classic incorporates extra support in the middle of the mattress to reinforce the lumbar area, which is especially beneficial for those with back pain.
  • Improved Sleep Posture: This technology keeps your spine in a neutral position, reducing discomfort and promoting better posture during sleep.

Around the perimeter of the mattress, Saatva includes high-density foam rails for edge support.

  • Maximized Sleep Area: These reinforced edges ensure you can utilize the full surface of the mattress without feeling like you’re about to roll off.
  • Stable Sitting Support: Ideal for people who sit on the edge of their bed, the foam rails prevent sagging and extend the mattress’s lifespan.

Pros

  • Excellent lumbar support with targeted zoning.
  • Multiple firmness options for personalized comfort.
  • Reinforced edge support for full mattress usability.
  • Breathable materials for cooler sleep.
  • Durable dual-coil system for long-lasting performance.

Cons

  • Heavier than some mattresses, making setup tricky.

What the testers say: “The Saatva Classic Mattress is great. It provided a distinctly supportive and buoyant feel, characteristic of its high-quality innerspring construction. The mattress offered a choice of firmness levels, and the one I tested had a firm but not overly hard feel, providing excellent support for the spine while still being comfortable.” – Dr. Jordan Burns DC MS, Saatva Classic Reviewer

When we researched the Nolah Evolution 15-inch mattress, we found it to be an impressive option for anyone looking for a balance of comfort and support. Our team tested it in various sleeping positions, and we can confidently say it caters to different sleep preferences. This hybrid mattress combines layers of foam with a strong coil system, designed to meet your needs whether you’re a side sleeper, back sleeper, or someone who tends to toss and turn.

How Does the Mattress Perform?

When we tested the Nolah Evolution 15-inch, we evaluated it based on key factors that matter to us as sleepers:

  • Pressure Relief: We felt the pressure melt away, especially when we tested it on our sides. The combination of the pillow top and foam layers helped reduce pressure points, which we loved for a more comfortable night’s sleep.
  • Support: The zoned coil system did a great job keeping us supported throughout the night. We felt our spine stay aligned, whether we were sleeping on our backs or moving around.
  • Motion Isolation: For anyone who shares their bed, this mattress does a great job of minimizing motion transfer. The foam layers absorbed movement, so we didn’t feel disturbed when our team members shifted positions.
  • Cooling: No one likes waking up hot in the middle of the night. The breathable foam and coils helped regulate temperature, so we stayed cool throughout our tests.

Firmness Options

One of the things we appreciate about the Nolah Evolution 15 is the variety of firmness levels. Whether you’re looking for something soft or firm, this mattress has you covered:

  • Plush (5/10): We found this firmness level to be ideal for side sleepers who want a bit more cushioning for their hips and shoulders.
  • Luxury Firm (6/10): This is the sweet spot for back sleepers who need a good mix of comfort and support.
  • Firm (8/10): If you prefer a firmer feel, this one is perfect for stomach sleepers or anyone who likes extra support.

Sleep Trial and Warranty

We always appreciate a solid sleep trial, and the Nolah Evolution 15 delivers a 120-night risk-free trial. This gives us plenty of time to test the mattress in the comfort of our own home and decide if it’s right for us. And if we needed any extra peace of mind, the mattress also comes with a lifetime warranty, showing us that Nolah stands behind its product.

Responsive and Adaptive

What really impressed me was how quickly the mattress adapted to my movements. As soon as I shifted or rolled over, it adjusted with me. I didn’t feel like I was stuck in one position or sinking too deeply into the mattress. It moved with me and kept everything aligned, which is important for a good night’s sleep.

Perfect for Side Sleepers

As a side sleeper, pressure relief is key. The Nolah Evolution 15 didn’t disappoint. The top layers offered just the right amount of cushion for my shoulders and hips without feeling like I was bottoming out. It was like the mattress hugged my body in all the right places, but still kept everything properly supported. I imagine back sleepers would appreciate the same solid support—no sagging, just consistent comfort.

Edge Support That Holds Up

I tend to move around a lot in my sleep, so I’m always testing how stable the edges of a mattress feel. With the Nolah Evolution 15, I didn’t feel like I was going to roll off when I got close to the edge. That solid edge support made me feel secure no matter where I was on the mattress, which is a nice bonus.

Cooling All Night Long

One of the highlights for me was the cooling technology. I’ve dealt with mattresses that make me wake up hot and sweaty, but this one was different. The breathable design and cooling foam worked together to keep the temperature just right. No tossing and turning from overheating. It stayed comfortable all night, and I never felt too hot or cold.

  • “I’m a side sleeper, and the pressure relief on this mattress is just amazing. No more shoulder pain in the morning! The cooling tech is also a big plus—it doesn’t make me wake up sweating like some mattresses do.” – Jake L.

Nolah Evolution 15-inch pressure-relieving foam layers work to distribute weight evenly and reduce discomfort on pressure points.

Plus, its cooling technology keeps heat from building up, which is why Jake didn’t experience any overheating during the night.

  • “The edge support on this mattress is incredible. I can sleep all the way to the edge and still feel fully supported. The last mattress I had had terrible edge support, but this one really holds up.” – Emily R.

Edge support is an important feature for many sleepers, especially those who tend to sprawl out at night. The Nolah Evolution 15-inch mattress doesn’t disappoint here.

  • Dr. Burns, a sleep expert, also praised the Nolah Evolution 15’s ability to deliver comfort while maintaining proper alignment. “

The Evolution begins with a cooling cover made of breathable organic cotton and heat-dissipating ArcticTex™ fibers that help conduct body heat away from you. This cooling cover sits atop an equally cooling thermally conductive quilted Euro topper.

This topper draws heat away from you and pushes it out of the heat escape gusset so that it can escape the mattress as soon as possible. Whatever heat does not escape the gusset will be drawn away from your body by the graphite-infused memory foam comfort layer.

Underneath all these cooling layers, you’ll find a layer of high-resilience foam and a layer of high-density foam. These foam layers provide lots of buoyancy to the sleep surface. They also offer seamless progression to the coils below.

The Evolution features a layer of premium reinforced pocketed coils that offer three zones of support. They compress more under your hips and shoulders and provide more lift to your middle to keep your spine perfectly aligned.

Best of all, the Evolution sports a 120-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty to give you plenty of time to try it out!

Pros

  • Multiple cooling technologies ensure no overheating
  • Three firmness levels accommodate different sleep styles
  • Dual layers of transition foam keep the sleep surface buoyant

Cons

  • No medium firmness available

What the testers say: “Laying down on the Nolah Evolution 15 mattress felt luxurious, thanks to its advanced design aimed at providing both comfort and support. The mattress had a plush yet supportive feel, striking an ideal balance catering to various sleeping positions. Its firmness was on the medium-soft side but without compromising on spinal support, which is crucial for restorative sleep.” – Dr. Jordan Burns DC MS, Nolah Evolution Reviewer

Comfort and Support

First off, let’s talk about what makes Organica so special. Our team found that this mattress is designed with a medium-firm feel, rating a solid 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. This makes it a versatile option for various sleeping positions, offering a perfect balance of support and comfort whether you’re a side sleeper, back sleeper, or somewhere in between.

We were impressed by how Organica combines natural Talalay latex with an 8-inch pocketed coil system. This combination ensures you get the bounce and responsiveness you need without sacrificing pressure relief.

Temperature Regulation

One of our favorite features that our testers noted is its breathable GOTS-certified organic cotton cover. This not only feels soft against your skin but also helps regulate temperature, keeping you cool throughout the night—especially beneficial for those who tend to sleep hot.

Our testing showed that it scored an impressive 8.5/10 for temperature control, thanks in part to the inclusion of a 1-inch wool layer that enhances breathability and adds an extra touch of coziness.

Performance Ratings

We also noticed that the Organica excels in motion isolation and edge support, scoring 6.5/10 and 7.5/10, respectively. This means if you share your bed with a partner, you won’t be disturbed by their movements during the night.

And if you like to sit on the edge of your bed (or if your pets do), you’ll appreciate the sturdy edge support that keeps you feeling secure.

Price and Value

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room—price. While our team found that the Organica does come at a slightly higher price point than some other hybrids on the market, we believe it’s worth every penny due to its high-quality materials and sustainable construction practices. Amerisleep prioritizes eco-friendliness, using materials that are certified by global regulators like OEKO-TEX® and Rainforest Alliance.

Risk-Free Sleep Trial

And here’s where it gets even better: Amerisleep offers a 100-night sleep trial, allowing you to test out the Organica risk-free! Our team appreciates that this gives you plenty of time to see if it’s your perfect match before making a final decision.

Plus, it comes with a 20-year warranty, ensuring peace of mind for years to come.

A Refreshing Experience

  • Medium Firmness: The mattress has a medium firmness level—about a 6 out of 10—which strikes the perfect balance. It’s neither too soft nor too hard, cradling my body while keeping my spine aligned.
  • Relaxation: As I settled in, I felt my muscles relaxing, letting go of the day’s stresses.

Effortless Movement

  • Instant Adaptation: Whenever I shifted positions—whether rolling onto my side or turning onto my back—the latex instantly adapted to my movements.
  • No Stuck Feeling: There was no awkward sinking or feeling ‘stuck’ in one spot. Instead, it felt like the Organica was working with me, making transitions smooth and effortless.

Peaceful Sleep

Sharing a bed? No problem!

  • Minimal Motion Transfer: I found that motion transfer on the Organica was impressively minimal. If my partner moved or got up during the night, I hardly noticed it at all.
  • Uninterrupted Slumber: This feature gave me peace of mind, knowing that even if someone else was restless, I could still enjoy a deep slumber.

Solid Edge Support

  • Stable Sitting: As someone who often sits on the edge of the bed to put on shoes or read a bit before sleep, I appreciated how stable it felt.
  • Consistent Feel: There was no risk of rolling off; instead, it offered a consistent feel across the entire surface of the mattress.

Staying Cool and Comfortable

Now, let’s talk about temperature regulation—this is where Organica truly shines.

  • Breathable Materials: With its breathable organic cotton cover and natural latex materials, I remained pleasantly cool and dry throughout the night.
  • Exceptional Airflow: The mattress allowed for exceptional airflow, which is essential for anyone who tends to overheat while sleeping.
  • Wool Layer Benefits: The wool layer acted as a natural temperature regulator, helping wick away moisture and enhance comfort.

All in all, lying down on the Organica by Amerisleep provided me with a refreshing and comfortable sleeping experience.

  • Supportive Yet Inviting: The combination of responsiveness, minimal motion transfer, solid edge support, and excellent temperature regulation made it clear why this mattress is featured among the list of mattresses with free trials.
  • Eco-Friendly Choice: If you’re looking for a latex mattress that delivers comfort while being eco-friendly, this one deserves serious consideration!

Dr. Burns highlighted the unique and refreshing sleeping experience provided by the Organica mattress, thanks to its all-natural latex construction. Our team of testers also gathered insights from users, and the feedback consistently aligns with his observations.

One user noted, “I’ve never felt such a perfect balance of support and comfort. The medium firmness allows me to sink in just enough while keeping my spine aligned.” This reflects the Organica’s medium-firm feel (rated 6 out of 10), which supports various sleeping positions.

Another reviewer shared, “I’m a hot sleeper, but this mattress keeps me cool throughout the night. The breathable materials really make a difference!” This aligns with our findings that the combination of natural latex and organic cotton cover offers exceptional airflow, helping to regulate temperature effectively.

A couple mentioned, “We can both move around without waking each other up. The motion isolation is fantastic!” This reinforces our assessment that the Organica effectively absorbs movement, making it ideal for couples.

Additional Features Highlighted by Users

A user commented, “The edge support is solid! I feel secure sitting on the edge without worrying about rolling off.” This feedback aligns with our assessments that the Organica provides consistent support across its surface, enhancing usability for those who share a larger bed.

Another review stated, “I suffer from back pain, and this mattress has helped alleviate it. I wake up feeling refreshed instead of sore.” Our testers noted that the latex layer provides excellent pressure relief without compromising comfort.

Quilted Organic Cotton Cover (0.5 inches): The journey begins with a soft, breathable cover made from GOTS-certified organic cotton. This quilted top not only feels luxurious against the skin but also enhances breathability, ensuring a comfortable sleep environment. At the base of the cover, a thin layer of organic wool adds an extra touch of softness while providing natural moisture-wicking properties.

Comfort Layer (3 inches total): A two-layer comfort system crafted from natural Talalay latex:

  1. Top Layer (1.5 inches): This layer is made from soft Talalay latex, which offers a plush feel and excellent bounce. It conforms gently to the body, providing pressure relief without compromising support.
  2. Bottom Layer (1.0 inch): The second layer consists of firmer Talalay latex, offering a medium firmness that acts as a transitional layer. This combination ensures that sleepers experience both comfort and support, maintaining proper spinal alignment.

Support Layer (8 inches): The Organica has an 8-inch pocketed coil system. Each coil operates independently, providing targeted support and enhancing airflow throughout the mattress. This design not only promotes bounce but also helps reduce motion transfer, making it ideal for couples.

Base Layer (1 inch): The base layer consists of Dunlop latex, which reinforces the pocketed coils and contributes to the mattress’s overall durability. This sturdy foundation ensures that the mattress maintains its shape over time while adding to its longevity.

  • Offers excellent pressure relief while maintaining proper spinal alignment.

We’re not exaggerating when we say this mattress redefines what it means to truly relax. Our team of testers dove right in (literally), and let us tell you, it’s as dreamy as it sounds.

Side sleepers, rejoice! The AS5 Hybrid was practically made for you. It provides just the right amount of sink to cushion pressure points, like your hips and shoulders, while still offering enough support to keep you from feeling swallowed up.

And if you’re the type to toss and turn, you’ll love the responsive layer that bounces back just enough to make moving around effortless. No “stuck in the sand” vibes here.

This 14-inch beauty is built for those who love the feeling of being cradled by their mattress. The top layer features a ridiculously soft memory foam that molds perfectly to your body, giving you that feeling the moment you lie down. But here’s the kicker—it’s not just about softness. Beneath that plush surface is a supportive core that keeps your spine aligned, so you’re not waking up with an achy back or stiff shoulders.

The built-in cooling technology. If you’re a hot sleeper (or just love to pile on the blankets), this mattress has you covered. It’s designed to keep the heat away, so you stay cool and comfortable all night long.

And let’s not forget the free sleep trial. Amerisleep gives you 100 nights to decide if the AS5 Hybrid is “the one.” It’s like dating, but without the awkward small talk—just you, your mattress, and plenty of time to fall in love.

Bottom line? If you’re after a soft mattress that feels luxurious, keeps you cool, and offers a generous sleep trial to back it up, the AS5 Hybrid is hard to beat. Our team has tested it, loved it, and can confidently say it’s a game-changer for anyone craving that perfect mix of softness and support.

The top layer welcomed me with a plush, almost weightless hug—it’s that soft! But here’s the surprising part: beneath all that softness, I could feel a steady support that kept my body perfectly aligned. It wasn’t just sinking into comfort; it was comfort with purpose.

Let’s break down what it feels like:

  • The top layer feels ultra-soft, like the surface of a cloud, but never flimsy.
  • Underneath, the hybrid construction kicks in. The coil base provides just enough bounce to keep your spine aligned, so you wake up refreshed—not achy.
  • For side sleepers like me, it’s a dream come true. My hips and shoulders sank in just the right amount, while the rest of my body stayed level and comfortable.

I’m a bit of a restless sleeper, and I tend to shift from my side to my back multiple times during the night. The AS5 Hybrid handled my movements like a pro.

  • The responsive foam layer adjusts almost instantly as you move. There’s no awkward “stuck” feeling, just smooth transitions.
  • Rolling over felt light and natural, thanks to the balanced mix of softness and responsiveness.

Here’s the test: I sat on one side and wiggled around while keeping an eye on a water bottle on the other side. It barely wobbled!

  • The foam layers and individually wrapped coils do an incredible job of isolating movement.
  • Whether you share your bed with a partner, a pet, or even a kid sneaking in at night, you won’t feel every toss and turn.

I often sit on the edge of the bed to put on my socks or scroll through my phone, and I noticed right away how sturdy it felt.

  • The edges held up without sagging, giving me a stable surface to sit or lie on.
  • Even when I sprawled out close to the perimeter, it felt just as supportive as the center of the mattress.

As someone who overheats easily, I can’t overstate how refreshing it was to sleep on the AS5 Hybrid.

  • The open-cell foam top layer allowed for excellent airflow, keeping the surface cool.
  • The hybrid design—with its breathable coil system—helped whisk away any heat buildup, so I stayed comfortable no matter how many blankets I piled on.

AS5 Hybrid delivers on its promise of plush comfort without compromising on support.

  • “Perfectly balanced—sleeps cool and is very comfortable.”
This mirrors Dr. Burns’ remarks on the hybrid design’s ability to cradle the body while maintaining proper spinal alignment.
  • “Soft yet supportive—I feel like I’m sleeping on a cloud, but my back feels amazing in the morning.”
Users often mention waking up refreshed, thanks to the mattress’s foam and coil combination.

If you’re a hot sleeper, the AS5 Hybrid has you covered—literally!

  • Dr. Burns praised the mattress for its excellent breathability, with open-cell foam and coil layers promoting airflow.
  • Users agree:
    • “I no longer wake up sweaty! This mattress stays cool all night.”
    • “The cooling feature is such a game-changer—I’ve never slept better.”

Couples love how the AS5 Hybrid keeps motion in check, even if one partner tosses and turns.

  • “I can barely feel my partner moving next to me. This mattress is amazing for light sleepers.”
  • As Dr. Burns noted, the individually wrapped coils and foam layers work together to localize movement.

The AS5 Hybrid doesn’t just focus on the center—it offers great edge support too.

  • “Even sitting on the edge feels sturdy and comfortable.”
  • Dr. Burns highlighted the surprising stability of the mattress’s perimeter, perfect for sitting or sprawling near the edge.

Real users and experts like Dr. Burns agree: the Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid blends luxury and practicality. Its plush comfort, advanced cooling, and excellent motion isolation make it a favorite among sleepers.

  1. Bio-Pur® Foam: A Breathable Comfort Layer

The top layer of the AS5 Hybrid features Amerisleep’s signature Bio-Pur® foam. As we analyzed this layer, it became evident that it offers more than just softness—it’s engineered for optimal performance.

Breathability: Unlike traditional memory foam, Bio-Pur® is crafted with an open-cell structure, allowing air to circulate freely. This keeps the mattress cool and fresh throughout the night.

Pressure Relief: We noticed how the foam cushions pressure points, especially around sensitive areas like the hips and shoulders. This makes it an excellent option for side sleepers or anyone needing extra softness.

Eco-Friendly: Made with plant-based materials, Bio-Pur® not only feels good but also aligns with a more sustainable approach to mattress design.

  1. Active Flex Layer: Softness Meets Responsiveness

Beneath the comfort layer lies Active Flex foam, and during our tests, we could see how this layer enhanced the overall performance of the mattress.

Dynamic Adaptability: This foam responds quickly to movement, preventing that “stuck” feeling often associated with plush mattresses.

Amplified Plushness: While soft, this layer doesn’t compromise on support, making it feel like the perfect blend of cozy and functional.

  1. Zoned Pocketed Coils: Targeted Support and Stability

The hybrid core of the AS5 is its system of zoned pocketed coils. We found that these coils bring balance to the plush comfort of the top layers.

Zoned Support: The coils are firmer in areas where more support is needed, like the lumbar region, while remaining softer near the shoulders for pressure relief. This targeted support ensures proper spinal alignment.

Motion Isolation: Thanks to the individually wrapped coils, movement from one side of the bed doesn’t disturb the other—something our testers found ideal for couples.

Enhanced Edge Support: We noticed how the reinforced edges provided a stable and supportive feel, whether lying or sitting near the mattress’s perimeter.

  1. Transition Layer: Smooth Integration

Between the foam and coils lies a transition layer that ensures seamless interaction between the comfort and support layers.

Balanced Cushioning: This layer absorbs the weight from the foam above, redistributing it evenly onto the coil system below.

Comfort Consistency: It bridges the plush top and supportive base, creating a unified feel across the mattress.

  1. High-Density Foam Base: The Foundation of Durability

At the bottom is a layer of high-density foam that anchors the entire mattress. As we reviewed its role, we saw how it solidifies the mattress’s structure.

Stability: This layer prevents sagging, maintaining the mattress’s shape and performance over time.

Longevity: It enhances the durability of the mattress, making it a long-term investment.

Pros

  • Plush comfort with excellent pressure relief
  • Zoned pocketed coils for targeted support
  • Breathable Bio-Pur® foam keeps the mattress cool
  • Eco-friendly, plant-based materials
  • Ideal for side sleepers and those needing spinal alignment

Cons

  • May feel too soft for those preferring a firmer mattress

What the testers say: “The cooling impact it has ensures you won’t wake in the night from an increase in temperature. Additionally, I have allergies and asthma and have not experienced any issues sleeping on the AS5 Hybrid. In fact, I can confidently say it has provided me with the best night’s sleep since having my daughter.” – Dr. Jennifer Miller, PT, DPT, AS5 Hybrid Reviewer

Since we have investigated and evaluated this mattress, we can confidently state that it’s a fantastic option for anybody seeking comfort and cost. Unlike other memory foam, it offers body-contouring support and cushioning without leaving you feeling “stuck.” According to our testing team, it provided a pleasing balance of softness and support, especially for people who prefer a medium-firm feel.

So, What Makes It Stand Out?
The Zoma Start comes with a 100-night free sleep trial, which we know is a huge deal when shopping for a mattress. Our testers love that it allows enough time to really figure out if it’s the right fit without any rush. It’s a great option for those who want the benefits of memory foam without breaking the bank. The mattress is designed to relieve pressure points, so whether you’re a back or side sleeper, it helps reduce tossing and turning through the night.

Key Features

  • Responsive Memory Foam: The Zoma Start uses high-quality memory foam that contours to your body’s shape, providing excellent comfort without the sinking feeling some foam mattresses can give.
  • Breathable Design: The foam layers are designed to keep airflow circulating, helping to keep you cool throughout the night, a key feature we noticed during our tests.
  • Supportive Base Layer: The support layer adds firmness to prevent the mattress from feeling too soft, which we found particularly helpful for spine alignment.

We think the Zoma Start is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a solid, affordable memory foam mattress. The mattress gives you that cozy, cradling feel we all love about memory foam, but with just the right amount of support so you don’t sink too deeply. It’s perfect for people who want to enjoy the pressure-relieving benefits of foam without paying premium prices. Plus, with the 100-night free sleep trial, you can really take your time deciding if it’s the right match for your needs.

The medium-firm feel works wonders for me.

It gives just the right amount of cushion to my shoulders and hips while supporting my spine. I’ve tried foam mattresses before, but this one’s different—it feels like it’s made to fit my body, not just mold around it.

I’m not a “stay-in-one-position-all-night” kind of sleeper.

I move around a lot, and the Zoma Start handled that transition beautifully. While the foam isn’t as quick to respond as hybrid models, it adjusts fast enough to keep me comfy as I switch between sleeping positions. It’s not the instant bounce of a coil mattress, but I never feel stuck.

I could roll over, toss, and turn, and my partner wouldn’t feel a thing.

The Zoma Start does an excellent job of absorbing motion, making it a solid choice if you sleep with someone who’s easily disturbed by movement.

Here’s where Zoma Start really shines for me.

Memory foam often traps heat, but this mattress has cooling gel foam that actively works to dissipate heat.

I didn’t wake up drenched in sweat or feeling overheated, which has been a problem with other foam mattresses I’ve tried.

Edge support isn’t the strongest point of the Zoma Start, but it’s still decent.

I didn’t feel like I was going to roll off the edge, but it doesn’t have that extra firmness that some hybrids or firmer models offer.

Our team of testers evaluated the Zoma Start mattress based on comfort, motion isolation, and cooling features. Dr. Burns, a sleep expert, provided an analytical review, assigning the mattress a performance score of 8.51 out of 10, which reflects a solid but not outstanding performance overall. While the mattress does excel in cooling and edge support, it shows areas for improvement, especially in responsiveness.

User Experiences

Here’s what real users are saying about the Zoma Start mattress:

  1. “I’ve been sleeping on the Zoma Start for a few months now, and it’s a dream. I’m a back sleeper, and the support is just right. Not too soft, not too firm—perfect balance!”
  2. “As a side sleeper, I was worried it wouldn’t be soft enough, but it contours to my body perfectly. My shoulder pain has gotten better, and I wake up feeling rested.”
  3. “I was nervous about the cooling, but this mattress does the job. I usually get hot during the night, but I’ve had zero issues with heat retention since switching to the Zoma Start.”
  4. “I’m a combo sleeper, so I need something that can adapt to different positions. This mattress does a great job adjusting to my shifts throughout the night without feeling stuck.”

Performance Metrics

Dr. Burns’ analysis includes the following performance scores:

Edge Support: 10 out of 10

Cooling Features: 9 out of 10

Mattress Responsiveness: 8 out of 10

Starting at the top, the mattress features a 2-inch gel memory foam layer. This gel-infused foam helps to alleviate pressure points while providing excellent contouring support. The cooling properties of the gel foam prevent overheating, making it ideal for those who tend to sleep hot. As you sink into the mattress, this layer gently molds to your body, providing a soft, yet supportive feel, especially for side sleepers.

Below the comfort layer, the Zoma Start includes a 1-inch poly foam transition layer. This layer acts as a buffer between the top gel memory foam and the base layer. Its primary purpose is to offer a smoother transition, enhancing overall comfort by preventing the sleeper from feeling the firmness of the underlying support foam directly. This transition layer ensures that the mattress provides an even feel from top to bottom, contributing to a consistent sleeping surface, no matter your position.

At the base, the mattress has an 8-inch support foam layer. This thick, high-density foam provides solid foundation support, ensuring the mattress maintains its shape and durability over time. The dense support foam also promotes spinal alignment, keeping your body in a neutral position, which is essential for proper rest. Together, these three layers create a supportive yet comfortable sleep surface that accommodates various sleeping positions while preventing any uncomfortable sinking or excessive bounce.

Pros

  • Comfortable medium-firm feel, suitable for various sleep positions.
  • Excellent motion isolation, ideal for couples.
  • Cooling gel memory foam layer helps regulate temperature.
  • Good edge support with minimal sagging.
  • Budget-friendly with a free sleep trial.

Cons

  • Slightly slower responsiveness compared to hybrid or innerspring models.
  • May not be soft enough for strict side sleepers who prefer extra cushioning.

What the testers say: “When I lay down, I felt a clear sense of contouring and cushioned comfort, all while maintaining good support. The foams seemed to adjust to my body shape, offering relief from pressure while keeping my spine aligned. While the bed could feel firm, I woke up with no aches and pains nor did I ever experience major stiffness and soreness from lying down.” – Dr. Nilong Vyas MD, MPH, Zoma Start Reviewer

There’s harmony in the way the mattress balances support and softness. It cradled my pressure points gently—no sharp spots of tension—but still provided enough firmness to keep my spine aligned. It’s one of those mattresses that made me feel like I could drift off effortlessly and wake up feeling refreshed.

  • Lying down felt uniquely personal, almost as if the mattress had been custom-built for me. With the customizable firmness, I could fine-tune the feel to perfectly suit my preferences.
  • I chose medium firmness, which struck a satisfying balance between soft cushioning and sturdy support. Each side of the bed catered equally well, making it easy to imagine how couples with differing needs could still share this as their “dream” mattress.
  • Every move I made was met with a responsive bounce—not too much, not too little. Shifting positions was effortless, thanks to the hybrid construction.
  • I tend to toss and turn a bit, but the mattress adapted so seamlessly that I barely noticed my movement.
  • There was no noticeable transfer of movement to the other side of the mattress. It’s the kind of experience that would make this an absolute lifesaver for couples—especially if one of you is a light sleeper like me.
  • I tested sitting on the side while putting on my socks, and there was no sinking or sagging. When I stretched out fully, I felt supported right up to the edges, maximizing every square inch of sleeping space.
  • The cooling gel foam and airy coil system worked together like magic. Even after lying in one spot for hours, there was no buildup of heat. It’s a rare but much-appreciated quality for someone like me who tends to overheat at night.

Customizable Firmness and Personalized Comfort:

“I did end up getting the plush top layer for my side, which was super easy to request through customer service. I like the plush a lot better personally. We haven’t noticed any issues or sagging so far. We sleep well and have no pain.”

This user’s experience underscores the Sparrow’s customizable firmness, allowing each sleeper to tailor their side for optimal comfort—a feature Dr. Burns notes as beneficial for couples with differing preferences.

Motion Isolation and Support:

“This mattress offers excellent cooling, moderate to deep sinkage, very low motion transfer, very fast response time, very high bounce height, good edge support, and outstanding pressure relief.”

This review highlights the mattress’s ability to minimize motion transfer, ensuring undisturbed sleep for partners—a key feature Dr. Burns also emphasized.

Edge Support and Durability:

“When sitting, I saw some noticeable sinkage. When lying along the edge, I felt more supported, but did still felt some sinkage. Overall, I felt this was pretty good edge support, but not stellar.”

This observation aligns with Dr. Burns’ analysis, indicating that while the Sparrow offers solid edge support, there may be slight sinkage when sitting directly on the edge.

These firsthand accounts, in conjunction with Dr. Burns’ expert insights, highlight Sparrow’s strengths in providing personalized comfort, minimizing partner disturbances, and offering supportive structure—making it a compelling choice for couples seeking a tailored and comfortable sleep experience.

At the surface, the mattress features a quilted cover embedded with cooling technology.

  • This layer isn’t just soft and inviting—it actively works to regulate temperature by dispersing body heat. From the moment you lie down, the cool, refreshing feel enhances comfort, making it ideal for those who tend to sleep warm.

The first comfort layer consists of 3 inches of Energex™ foam, a material known for its responsiveness and balance of contour and bounce.

  • This foam provides gentle cushioning while allowing you to move easily without feeling trapped. It molds to your body for pressure relief, creating a cozy yet supportive cradle that adapts to your movements throughout the night.
  • Beneath the Energex™ foam is a 1-inch layer of SmartFlow foam, designed to enhance airflow and maintain a cool sleep environment.
  • This layer also includes zoned support, offering extra reinforcement where your body needs it most, like the shoulders and hips, while promoting proper spinal alignment. It ensures a balanced feel that caters to all sleeping positions.

The mattress’s core is made up of an 8-inch system of individually wrapped coils.

  • These coils respond independently to movement, minimizing motion transfer and allowing couples to sleep undisturbed. They also contribute to excellent edge support, preventing sagging and expanding the usable sleep surface.
  • The combination of coils and foam delivers both durability and dynamic support, ensuring a stable yet comfortable foundation for years to come.

The bottom layer is a 1-inch foundation of high-density foam.

  • This sturdy base provides stability to the entire mattress structure, helping it maintain its shape and ensuring durability over time.

Pros

  • You can pick your firmness level—and even split it for couples.
  • Amazing at isolating motion, so you won’t feel your partner tossing.
  • Sturdy coils give great support and reliable edge stability.
  • Stays cool all night with built-in temperature control.
  • Lifetime renewal program keeps your mattress fresh for years.

Cons

  • Edge support is good but could be better for sitting.
  • The Plush option might feel too soft for some.

What the testers say: “The Nest Bedding Sparrow Signature Hybrid mattress is phenomenal and especially favorable for couples. The mattress offered a customizable firmness level, ensuring a just-right feel that supports individual preferences while maintaining a unified surface. The hybrid construction allowed for a quick response to movement, facilitating effortless adjustments throughout the night.” – Dr. Jordan Burns, Nest Bedding Reviewer

Let me take you on a little journey through my night testing the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress. As soon as I flopped down onto it, I was greeted by a refreshing chill from the GlacioTex cooling cover. Seriously, it felt like I was sinking into a cozy cloud that was just waiting to wrap me up in comfort. It’s not just for show; this cooling feature sets the stage for a great night’s sleep.

Finding the Sweet Spot

What caught my attention was how perfectly balanced the firmness felt. I’m one of those people who can’t seem to stay in one position all night—I’m constantly flipping from my back to my side. But with the Aurora Luxe, it felt like it was made just for me! The combination of plush foam and those individually wrapped coils created a surface that hugged my body without being too soft. It was like getting a warm hug from a supportive friend—firm enough to keep my spine aligned but soft enough to feel like I was floating. As I rolled onto my side, I noticed how well the mattress conformed to my shape. There was no annoying pressure on my shoulders or hips, which can be a dealbreaker for side sleepers like me. Instead, it felt like the mattress was giving me a gentle nudge into dreamland.

No More Disturbing My Partner

Now, here’s where things got interesting: motion isolation. Since I share my bed with my partner, I always worry about waking them up when I move around at night. But with the Aurora Luxe, I could toss and turn without a care in the world! It did an amazing job of keeping movements isolated, so even if I was restless, my partner stayed peacefully asleep. This feature alone makes it a fantastic choice for couples.

All Space yours

Getting in and out of bed can sometimes feel like an Olympic event, especially with mattresses that lack edge support. But with the Aurora Luxe, I felt completely secure sitting on the edge. The reinforced perimeter gave me impressive support, making it easy to hop in and out without feeling like I might tip over. This made those groggy morning wake-ups so much easier!

Staying Cool All Night

Now let’s talk about temperature because that’s super important for a good night’s sleep. As someone who tends to run hot, I was thrilled with how cool the Aurora Luxe kept me throughout the night. The phase change material in the top layer worked wonders at maintaining that cool-to-the-touch feel. Combined with the breathable coil system, it allowed for great airflow and heat dissipation. I drifted off comfortably without waking up drenched in sweat—a win!

With an impressive average rating of 4.7 out of 5 from over 3,100 reviews, it’s no wonder this mattress is making waves in the sleep community.

  • One user mentioned, “I’ve tried a lot of mattresses over the years, but this one is by far the most comfortable. The memory foam layers feel like a soft hug while the coils provide just the right amount of support.” This sentiment echoes what our team found during testing.
  • Another reviewer shared, “I love how cool this mattress stays at night! I’m usually a hot sleeper, but I didn’t wake up sweating once.” This highlights the advanced cooling technology that Brooklyn Bedding incorporates into the Aurora Luxe.
  • A couple who share their bed noted, “We were surprised at how little we felt each other moving around. It’s great for couples!” This aligns with our findings on motion isolation.
  • On edge support, one user remarked, “I can sit on the edge without feeling like I’m going to roll off. It helps when I’m getting in and out of bed!”

A Few Considerations

Not every review was glowing; some users did mention minor drawbacks. One noted, “The top cover can feel a bit slippery at times.” While this didn’t detract from their overall satisfaction, it’s something to consider if you prefer a more textured surface.

Many users appreciate its balanced feel and effective temperature regulation, making it ideal for hot sleepers. As Dr. Burns noted in his analysis, this mattress truly delivers on its promise of providing substantial support without sacrificing comfort.

  1. The Cool Factor: GlacioTex Cooling Cover

Starting at the surface, the GlacioTex cooling cover is where the magic begins. This cover is crafted to feel cool to the touch, instantly refreshing you as you lie down. It’s designed to wick away moisture and regulate temperature, ensuring that you stay comfortable throughout the night. The moment you settle in, you can feel the difference—it’s like having a gentle breeze right where you need it.

  1. Comfort Meets Technology: Copper-Infused Foam

Just beneath that cooling cover is a 1.5-inch layer of CopperFlex foam. This isn’t just any foam; it’s infused with copper, which helps with heat dissipation and has natural antimicrobial properties. As I lay on this layer, I noticed how it cradled my body while keeping things cool. It provides a plush feel without excessive sinkage, allowing for a cozy yet supportive experience.

  1. Responsive Support: TitanFlex Foam

Next up is the 2-inch TitanFlex foam layer, which adds an exciting twist to the comfort profile. This layer is engineered to be responsive, meaning it quickly adapts to your movements without losing its shape. Unlike traditional memory foam that can feel slow to respond, TitanFlex offers a lively bounce that makes changing positions effortless—perfect for restless sleepers like me!

  1. Smooth Transition: Visco-Elastic Gel Memory Foam

Transitioning smoothly into support is crucial, and that’s where the 1-inch visco-elastic gel memory foam layer comes in. This layer acts as a gentle buffer between the comfort layers and the support coils below. It provides additional pressure relief while helping to maintain proper spinal alignment. As I rolled onto my side, I felt how this layer helped distribute my weight evenly, reducing pressure on my shoulders and hips.

  1. The Backbone: Pocketed Coil Support System

Now we reach the heart of the Aurora Luxe—the 8-inch pocketed coil support system. These coils are individually wrapped, allowing them to move independently and provide targeted support where it’s needed most. I was particularly impressed by how well they adapted to my body’s contours while maintaining excellent airflow throughout the mattress. This design not only enhances comfort but also minimizes motion transfer—perfect for couples who don’t want to disturb each other during sleep. The coils are also strategically zoned, with firmer coils in the center for added lumbar support and softer coils around the edges for a more cushioned feel when sitting or lying near the perimeter.

  1. Solid Foundation: High-Density Foam Base Layer

Finally, at the base of this impressive construction is a 0.75-inch high-density foam layer. This sturdy foundation provides durability and stability, ensuring that all layers above it perform optimally over time. It supports your entire body while maintaining structural integrity, giving you confidence that your mattress will hold up night after night.

Pros

  • Excellent cooling technology with GlacioTex cover
  • Copper-infused foam for added comfort and antimicrobial properties
  • Responsive TitanFlex foam for easy movement
  • Minimal motion transfer—great for couples

Cons

  • Some users find the top cover a bit slippery
  • The soft version may feel too plush for some sleepers

What the testers say: “The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Hybrid mattress is one of my favorite mattresses. It offered a balanced level of firmness that catered well to a wide range of sleep preferences, providing substantial support without sacrificing comfort. The hybrid construction, combining high-quality foam layers with individually encased coils, resulted in a responsive sleep surface that quickly adapted to body movements, ensuring a comfortable transition between positions without delay.” – Dr. Jordan Burns, Brooklyn Bedding Reviewer

Watch Our Purple Restore Plus Hybrid Video Review

So, what makes the Purple Restore Plus Hybrid so special? First off, it features Purple’s signature grid technology—a hyper-elastic polymer grid that adapts to your body, providing just the right amount of support and pressure relief. We could feel how it cradled the body, especially around sensitive areas like the shoulders and hips, making it a great choice for people with pain or discomfort. Our team noticed the grid helps with airflow too, so the mattress stays cool throughout the night, which is a huge bonus if you tend to sleep hot.

Another thing we love about this mattress is its hybrid design, combining responsive pocketed coils with layers of foam for that ideal balance of comfort and support. This setup gave our team the perfect combination of contouring and support without feeling like we were sinking too much. Plus, we loved how it offered excellent motion isolation, meaning if you share your bed, you won’t feel your partner moving around.

We also want to highlight how this mattress is built to last. Its high-quality construction ensures it’ll hold up over time, which is something we noticed during our testing phase.

Of course, when you’re shopping for a new mattress, a sleep trial is a must, and the Purple Restore Plus Hybrid doesn’t disappoint here either. It comes with a free sleep trial, so you can test it out for 100 nights risk-free. This gave our team peace of mind, knowing we could return it if it didn’t meet our expectations, though it certainly did.

Okay, so let me tell you about the moment I first sank into the Purple Restore Plus Hybrid. It’s like the mattress just knew exactly where to give and where to support. The moment I lay down, I felt this immediate balance between firm support and that cozy, cloud-like comfort. It wasn’t the usual “stiff” kind of firmness that makes you feel like you’re sleeping on a board—no, this one’s different. The Purple Grid technology makes a difference. It’s like the mattress is customizing itself to your body in real-time.

As I shifted around to see how it felt in different positions, I was honestly surprised at how quickly it adjusted. No annoying sinking or bouncing. It was like the mattress was keeping up with me effortlessly—like it was anticipating my next move. And let me tell you, I tend to toss and turn a lot, but there wasn’t any of that “feeling-every-movement” thing. Motion transfer was seriously minimal, so if you’re someone who shares the bed with a partner, you won’t be waking each other up every time one of you moves.

Now, the whole cooling thing? Total win. I’m not gonna lie, I often wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I’m about to burst into flames. But with the Purple Restore Plus Hybrid, I noticed the cooling effect right away. The grid design encourages airflow, and the hybrid layers help keep the temperature under control. It’s like the mattress was working to keep me cool all night long—no overheating, no sweaty sheets.

Another nice surprise? The edges. Usually, edge support isn’t something I notice too much, but with this mattress, I felt just as supported when I was lying near the edge as I did in the middle. It gave me that extra sense of space without feeling like I was about to roll off.

  • Emily R., a side sleeper from New York, shared: “I love how the mattress contours to my body, especially around my shoulders and hips. It provides the perfect balance of support and comfort.”
  • Mark T., a back sleeper from Los Angeles, mentioned: “The responsiveness of the mattress is impressive. It adapts quickly to my movements, ensuring I stay comfortable throughout the night.”
  • Sarah L., a stomach sleeper from Chicago, commented: “The cooling features are a game-changer. I no longer wake up feeling overheated, and the mattress maintains a comfortable temperature all night.”
  • James W., a combination sleeper from Miami, stated: “The edge support is fantastic. I feel secure even when I sleep near the edge, and the mattress doesn’t sag.”

The Purple Restore Plus Hybrid’s features shine through in the feedback from our testers, aligning with Dr. Burns’ expert insights:

  • Purple Grid Technology: Testers like Emily loved how the grid adapts to the body, providing responsive support without the “stuck” feeling, especially around pressure points like the shoulders and hips.
  • Support and Responsiveness: Mark and James praised how the mattress quickly adjusts to their movements, ensuring consistent comfort throughout the night.
  • Cooling Technology: Sarah, a stomach sleeper, appreciated the mattress’s cooling features, which kept her comfortable and sweat-free, as Dr. Burns highlighted for hot sleepers.
  • Edge Support: James found the edge support solid, ensuring a consistent feel even at the mattress’s edges, which was also noted by Dr. Burns as a key feature.

  1. The first thing you’ll notice when you look at the Purple Restore Plus Hybrid is its unique top layer: the Purple Grid. This hyper-elastic polymer grid is designed to adapt to your body’s shape, providing pressure relief where you need it most, especially around your shoulders and hips. It’s breathable, so it helps keep the mattress cool by promoting airflow, which is a huge plus if you tend to sleep hot.
  2. Next, there’s a layer of plush foam that adds a layer of soft comfort. This foam gives a cushioned feeling while still allowing for the support of the grid above it. It’s designed to cradle your body without making you feel like you’re sinking too much into the mattress, striking that balance between soft and supportive.
  3. Next comes the transition layer, made of responsive foam that helps bridge the gap between the softer comfort layers and the firmer support below. This layer ensures that as you move or change positions, the mattress responds smoothly without any uncomfortable dips or shifts. It provides just the right amount of push-back to keep your spine aligned and comfortable.
  4. Support layer: individually wrapped pocketed coils. These coils are designed to work independently, allowing for targeted support to different areas of your body. If you sleep on your back, for example, they’ll provide more support under your hips and lumbar area, while still offering comfort for your shoulders and neck. The pocketed coils also contribute to the mattress’s motion isolation, meaning you won’t feel every movement from a partner.
  5. At the very bottom is a base layer of high-density foam. This foam serves as the foundation of the mattress, providing durability and stability. It ensures that the coils above stay in place and that the mattress holds its shape over time, preventing sagging and offering long-lasting support.

Each of these layers comes together to create a mattress that offers a unique balance of comfort, support, and cooling. Whether you’re a side, back, or stomach sleeper, the combination of the Purple Grid, plush foam, responsive foam, and pocketed coils helps ensure a restful night’s sleep.

Pros

  • Unique Purple Grid technology for pressure relief and comfort
  • Breathable design keeps you cool throughout the night
  • Excellent motion isolation—perfect for couples
  • Instant responsiveness to changes in position
  • Solid edge support for consistent comfort across the entire bed

Cons

  • May take some time to adjust to the unique feel of the Purple Grid
  • Not the best choice if you prefer an ultra-soft mattress

What the testers say: “I was looking forward to laying down on the Purple® Restore Plus Hybrid mattress, and it didn’t disappoint. The mattress had a distinct feel due to the Purple Grid technology, which balanced firm support and adaptive comfort and is suitable for various sleeping positions.” – Dr. Jordan Burns, Purple® Restore Plus Hybrid Reviewer

How to Choose the Best Mattress with a Free Sleep Trial

With so many of the best mattresses on the market now boasting about their free sleep trials, it’s important to pay attention not only to the actual fine print of the sleep trial but also the makeup of the mattress and whether it meets your needs.

There are a few factors you need to consider when shopping for a new mattress. The sleep trial, construction, and firmness are a few of the big ones when it comes to choosing the most comfortable mattress.

SEE ALSO: Best King Size Mattress

Why You Need a Sleep Trial

There are several reasons why you might need a risk-free mattress trial. First of all, a lot of us now buy our mattresses solely online. Since this is the case, there’s no way for you to know for certain how you will feel about an online mattress once you actually sit on it. This means you need at least a small window to return a mattress you were not able to try before you bought it.

Even if you bought your mattress in a store, you still need a sleep trial that lasts at least 90 days. This is because that is how long it takes to break in your mattress in a box, once it’s been unpackaged and expanded. This breaking-in period is the time when your mattress’s feel will change a little bit.

This usually means it gets a bit softer than it was when it came, though it’s possible to have an overly firm mattress. Without the sleep trial, you’d be stuck with your mattress even if you didn’t like it after the end of the breaking-in period.

A sleep trial can also give couples, people who don’t know what kind of mattress they prefer, and other unsure shoppers a chance to make up their minds. If you share a bed or have never shopped for a mattress before, a sleep trial is especially vital for you.

You can find mattresses without sleep trials, and they may be cheaper because of this. But just as we always recommend mattresses with warranties, we also suggest paying for a mattress with a sleep trial.

Ideal Mattress Sleep Trial Length

The fact that most mattresses from reputable companies now come with sleep trials does not mean all sleep trials are equal. These trial periods can vary in length, and they may also vary in their terms.

You can expect a mattress sleep trial to be anywhere from 30 days to 365 days. A year-long sleep trial period is rare and a bit of overkill, as most people don’t need this long to decide whether they like their mattress. Often, it’s just a marketing tactic to make a bed seem like the better deal, compared to a mattress that may have better features but a shorter trial period.

On the other hand, you really don’t want a sleep trial that is fewer than 90 days in length. This is because the breaking-in period for your mattress can last at least three months. This means you want a sleep trial that is no fewer than 90 days.

You’ll want to check your free sleep trial’s terms, as well. You want to make sure that the sleep trial says something to the effect of “satisfaction guarantee,” “money back guarantee,” or the like. Read the terms of the agreement to ensure that you will get a full refund for your product if you return it within the specified trial period.

You may also want to read the terms of the agreement to see if return shipping is included. Some free sleep trial periods may not cover return shipping costs. This can be a major issue for big items like mattresses.

Finally, make sure there are not a bunch of conditions in the sleep trial that exclude you from returning your mattress. Acceptable exclusions include issues like you damaging the mattress yourself. But exclusions other than this are cause for concern.

Ideal Mattress Materials

Regardless of the length or terms of the sleep trial your mattress comes with, you’ll need to know a little bit about materials in order to choose the best type of mattress for you. Mattress materials control so much about how your mattress feels, from how well it can diffuse heat to how responsive it is to how buoyant it is and even how durable it will be in the long run.

You’ll need to know your sleep preferences and how you prioritize these qualities. For instance, if you know you are a hot sleeper, there are certain materials you will want to avoid.

Likewise, if you like to toss and turn, there are materials that are great for this and materials that are terrible for it. This means you will want to be somewhat aware of how you sleep before you shop.

Memory Foam

Of all the materials on the mattress market, memory foam is among the best. This flexible polyurethane foam can alter its shape in a way that no other mattress foam can. Memory foam mattresses create one of the most contouring and pressure-relieving sleep surfaces imaginable.

Memory foam’s contouring power is perfect for side sleepers and petite sleepers who may find that other mattress types exert too much pressure on their bodies. Also, if you want a firmer mattress that can still contour to your body, a memory foam mattress is likely best. See our guide to the best memory foam mattresses for back pain and support.

Memory foam mattresses aren’t just one of the most comfortable sleep surfaces around. They’re also among the most affordable because memory foam is so easy to produce. Many top models are among the best mattresses under $1000.

And memory foam’s durability means you can expect to not have to replace your memory foam mattress for quite a while, making it even more affordable in the long term. When it comes to how long a mattress lasts, memory foam is no slouch, with many performing well after 10 or more years.

Watch out if you are a hot sleeper or an active sleeper, though. Memory foam tends to retain body heat more than other mattress materials. A memory foam mattress also bounces back into place slower than other mattress types. This means, if you like to toss and turn, a memory foam mattress might not be the best choice for you.

Latex Foam

If you want a cooler and more responsive alternative to memory foam mattresses, natural latex may be the best option for you. This naturally springy and breathable material sheds heat much better than memory foam, and it also springs back into place as soon as you move. This makes it a wonderful choice for hot sleepers and active sleepers, when comparing latex to memory foam.

Natural latex foam is also the best choice for eco-conscious sleepers. Not only does latex produce much less toxic waste during the manufacturing process. It is also biodegradable and recyclable. This makes a latex foam mattress a better option for the environment than any other mattress type.

Keep in mind that latex is the most expensive mattress type upfront. Though its extreme durability will make up for some of this initial expense, with latex the cornerstone of many mattresses that won’t sag, it can be a pain in the wallet to purchase a natural latex mattress since the initial cost is so high.

Latex mattresses can also pose problems for people who need extra pressure relief because they tend to maintain their shape more than memory foam mattresses. This means they cannot contour quite as well.

You may not notice this if you are not a side sleeper or a petite sleeper, but if you do fall into one of these categories, you will need to be extra careful when it comes to selecting a firmness for your latex mattress. Many prefer memory foam in mattresses for pressure points.

Hybrid

Hybrid mattresses are the most versatile of all mattress types. A hybrid mattress is made by combining a support layer of pocketed coils with at least two inches of comfort foam. This creates a mattress that has all the benefits of both coils and foam while simultaneously fixing a lot of the issues with innerspring mattresses.

Each coil comes in its own fabric or foam casing. This means they can all move independently of one another. This translates into a mattress that offers a high level of contouring, a lot of responsiveness, and virtually no motion transfer.

Another great thing about hybrids is the fact that you can choose latex or memory foam or even a combination of both for your comfort layers. This means you don’t have to choose between mattress types. You can enjoy them all in one hybrid mattress.

The only real problem with the hybrid mattress is its expense. Hybrid mattresses are only slightly more affordable than latex mattresses. At the same time, they are less durable because their pocketed coils do eventually lose tension and wear out. This means hybrid mattresses are the most expensive mattress type over the course of their lifetimes.

Innerspring

Of all the mattress types on the market, innerspring mattresses are the ones to avoid. These mattresses feature a support layer made of open coils. This means the coils inside the mattress do not have a casing around them and are wired together with cables. This creates a mattress with more problems than solutions.

Some of the many problems that you may experience when you sleep on an innerspring mattress include squeaking noise from metal-on-metal contact, terrible motion transfer, and too much bounce.

Perhaps the worst problem of innerspring mattresses is that they do not contour very well. Their network of springs tends to sag under your heavier parts instead of taking your body shape. This translates into inferior pressure relief and inferior spinal alignment.

While innerspring mattresses are the cheapest of all the mattress types upfront, they become one of the most expensive mattress types over time because they are the least durable. You can expect to replace your innerspring mattress every six to ten years.

This is well below the life expectancy of every other mattress type. For all these reasons, we suggest going with a hybrid mattress if you want a mattress with coils.

Ideal Mattress Firmness

Choosing the right mattress firmness level is no less important than choosing the right mattress materials. Firmness is usually measured on a scale from one to 10, with 10 being the firmest.

However, you will be unlikely to find a mattress that is softer than around a three or firmer than around an eight. This is because there isn’t much of a market for mattresses that have no give and no support. No matter what firmness level you choose, you still need a mix of both.

Sleep Position

Your sleep position is the main factor that impacts your firmness needs. Your sleep position decides how your body contacts the bed, where your pressure points are, and how much support your spine needs to stay aligned.

If you get the wrong mattress firmness for your sleep position, it could leave you with all kinds of problems, from poor spinal alignment to pressure and pain in your joints.

This means you will need to select your baseline firmness based on the position you prefer to sleep in during the night. You can go up and down from this baseline based on other factors.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers can have a couple of different problems when it comes to their sleep. First off, when you sleep on your back, your body is more likely to sink into the surface unless offset by a mattress for back sleeping. This sinkage can bend your spine out of alignment if the bed is too soft to keep you lifted onto the sleep surface.

The second problem back sleepers may experience is their lumbar regions may collapse onto the bed if it is too hard to contour to their shape at all. This can leave back sleepers sleeping in a hunched position. It may also cause lower back pain.

In order to prevent both these problems, back sleepers should choose a medium-firm mattress. Medium-firm mattresses (6 of 10) can help keep your body lifted onto the sleep surface while simultaneously contouring to the curve of your spine well enough to give you proper lumbar support and prevent back pain.

Combo Sleepers

Combination sleepers don’t have a specific preference for a single sleep position. Rather, they may choose to sleep in any position at any point. This can make it tough for combo sleepers to find mattresses that work for them because they need a high degree of versatility.

This means the best mattress firmness for combo sleepers is medium (5 of 10). Medium mattresses have the most versatility of any mattress firmness level. Such a mattress for combination sleeping can support you when you’re on your back and stomach and offer pressure relief when you’re on your side. This means you can expect medium mattresses to accommodate you in any position.

Side Sleepers

Side sleepers typically need the softest mattresses of all sleep positions. When you sleep on your side, your body weight presses one of your shoulder and hip joints into the bed. If your bed resists this pressure instead of compressing underneath, it could leave you with joint pain and stiffness when you wake up in the morning.

A medium-soft mattress (4 of 10) can help counter these issues for side sleepers. These mattresses for side sleeping offer lots of pressure relief and deep compression to cradle your joints instead of pressing against them. At the same time, they also provide enough lift to help keep your spine aligned.

If you need even more pressure relief, you could go down to a soft mattress (3 of 10).

Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers generally need the firmest mattresses because they have the most issues with spinal alignment. Sleeping on your stomach allows your pelvis to sink into the mattress. When this happens, it pulls the lumbar region forward and can lead to lower back pain. This means you need to keep your pelvis lifted with an appropriate mattress for stomach sleeping.

Firm mattresses (7 of 10) can help ensure your pelvis stays lifted and your spine remains aligned when you sleep on your stomach. If you find that even a firm mattress doesn’t fix this problem entirely, you might even go up to an extra-firm (8 of 10) or try sleeping with a thin pillow under your hips to ensure you maintain spinal alignment.

Body Type

Though your sleep position preferences most impact your firmness needs, certain individuals may also need to take their body weight into account. In general, the mattress industry has decided that 130 to 230 pounds is the average adult human weight range.

If you fall into this range, then you don’t have to do anything when it comes to altering your firmness needs. Just select the firmness level that best corresponds to your sleep position. If you fall outside this weight range, you may need to go up or down in firmness.

Petite Sleepers

Petite sleepers are under 130 pounds. If you fall into this category, you may find that mattresses that match your sleep position preferences do not give you enough pressure relief. They may exert pressure on you and not contour enough to keep your spine aligned.

To counter this issue, petite sleepers should go one firmness level down from the one that corresponds to their sleep position. Such mattresses for lightweight sleepers offer them similar pressure relief and support to what an average-weight sleeper would get from a mattress firmness that matches their sleep style.

Plus-Size Sleepers

Plus-size sleepers tend to have the opposite problem as petite sleepers. When you weigh more than 230 pounds, you may not get enough support out of a mattress that matches your sleep style. To fix this issue, you’ll need to go a firmness level up from the one that corresponds to your sleep position preferences in a mattress for heavier sleepers.

For example, if you are a heavier stomach sleeper, you may want to upgrade from a firm to an extra-firm mattress. Heavier combo sleepers, meanwhile, may want to go up from a medium to a medium-firm mattress.

How Do I Return a Mattress Under a Sleep Trial?

So, you’ve decided that the mattress with a sleep trial you purchased isn’t working out for you, and you want to return it for a refund. However, you may be a bit uncertain about how to do so. While the exact specifications of what to do can vary slightly by mattress brand, here’s a good overview of what you can expect:

  1. Contact the retailer’s customer service. Provide order details, purchase date, and reason for return. The retailer will provide a return authorization or code. This is essential for initiating the return.
  2. Follow the retailer’s instructions to either schedule a pickup or drop off or donate the mattress. Ensure it’s in good condition and adheres to packaging guidelines.
  3. After receiving and inspecting the mattress or receiving proof of donation, the retailer will process your refund or exchange. Some retailers deduct return shipping or restocking fees.
  4. Monitor your payment method for the refund. Keep all communication and documentation related to the return for your records.

Before buying a mattress, it’s smart to familiarize yourself with the sleep trial terms and conditions provided by the mattress retailer. This will help you understand the duration of the trial, any eligibility criteria, and the return process.

Also, most mattress brands require you to keep the mattress for a minimum period, often 30s days. Known as the “break-in” period, this is to ensure you’ve given the mattress a fair chance.

While you may be able to return the mattress before this break-in period is up, you usually have to pay a penalty fee to do so. In other words, to get a full refund, you’ll need to try the mattress for a month or so.

Free Sleep Trial Comparison by Mattress Brands

Here is a thorough overview of mattress brands and the sleep trial length they offer. Remember, though, that a longer trial period does not automatically equal a better mattress.

Any trial period that stretches to 90 days or more should provide all the time you need to figure out if a mattress is right for you. Some longer trial periods can even be a disadvantage, as you may find it easier to forget when your trial ends.

What Happens to a Returned Mattress?

If you return the mattress to its original retailer, what will happen depends on the retailer’s practices and mattress’s condition. Typically, the mattress will be inspected to determine what it is suitable for, along with making sure it meets the conditions for a refund. This involves checking for any damage, stains, or excessive wear.

Then, the returned mattress might be refurbished or reconditioned if necessary, and then it could be resold as a refurbished unit at a discounted price. Often, though, a returned mattress is donated to a local shelter or other charity.

If the mattress cannot be reused, however, it will likely be taken to a mattress recycling center.

FAQs

Is there any way I can skip a sleep trial?

No. You should never skip the sleep trial or purchase a mattress that does not have one. The main reason you want to avoid this is that all mattresses have a breaking-in period where their feel will change a bit. If your mattress comes with an inadequate or even no sleep trial, you have no recourse if you no longer like the feel of your mattress after a month or two.

The sleep trial also allows you to have some leeway when shopping online. Since you can’t sit on models before buying them, a sleep trial for an online mattress gives you some leeway in case you wind up not liking what you purchased.

Finally, a free sleep trial period is also a demonstration of a company’s confidence in their product. A company that offers a robust and lengthy sleep trial has confidence that you will like their products and be keeping them long after the trial ends. Occasionally a mattress brand will let you remove the trial for an added discount, but it’s best to weigh up if this will cost you more in the end, should you not like the mattress.

Do I need a sleep trial if I buy my mattress in person?

Even if you buy your mattress in person and do get the chance to sit on a floor model before purchasing your new mattress, you still need a mattress that has a sleep trial. First of all, the floor models will not feel exactly the same as your new mattress because they have been tried by so many people.

Second, even if you liked your mattress on the showroom floor, sitting on it is not the same as sleeping on it. And the mattress will also not feel the same after the breaking-in period as it did before. For all these reasons, you’ll want to ensure that your mattress comes with a free sleep trial even if you bought it in a store.

Why do I always need a sleep trial?

You always need a sleep trial for several reasons. First and foremost, you need a sleep trial because of the breaking-in period that all mattresses have. All mattresses will slightly change feel when you sleep on them for a few months. A sleep trial allows you to decide whether you like the new feel of your mattress or want to return it.

A sleep trial also helps ensure you are getting a good quality product. If a mattress manufacturer does not offer any kind of sleep trial, this is a big red flag that their product is not of adequate quality. This means a sleep trial, along with a warranty, can offer you some assurances that a manufacturer has put thought and effort into their products.

What is the ideal sleep trial length?

The ideal sleep trial length is 90 to 120 days. A sleep trial that is below 90 days does not give you enough time to properly complete the breaking-in period and decide if you want to keep your mattress afterward.

Likewise, sleep trials that last more than 120 days are not much more than marketing gimmicks. You don’t need six months to a year to figure out whether you like your mattress. If you find a mattress with a sleep trial of this length, this is perfectly fine. There’s probably no funny business, but know that it is not necessary.

What if my potential mattress does not come with a sleep trial?

If a mattress you are considering does not come with a sleep trial, you should almost always avoid purchasing it. Not only does the lack of a sleep trial period give you no recourse if you decide you don’t like your mattress after sleeping on it for a few weeks.

It also is a good indicator that the manufacturer or retailer selling the mattress knows it is of poor quality and wants to ensure the sale remains final so that you have no ability to do anything about it when you figure that out. It’s likely that mattresses that come with no sleep trial also have inferior warranties as well, so you need to watch out for these products.

Bottom Line

Making sure you get the right mattress includes making sure you get a good sleep trial. Not only can a sleep trial help you figure out if you actually did select the right mattress for your needs. A sleep trial can also give you some assurance that you are buying a mattress from a reputable retailer who cares about their product and their customers’ experiences.

EachNight Fact-Checking Standards and Processes

The EachNight writing team is devoted to creating articles that are not only entertaining and easy to understand but also as impartial, accurate, and well-sourced as possible. Whenever possible, we strive to have our articles fact-checked by our independent review board. We also do not tolerate plagiarism or ill intent from our contributors.

Here are the medical and factual guidelines that a EachNight article must adhere to:

  • We draw upon only reputable and respectable sources when researching our articles’ topics and endeavor to only link to highly authoritative sources. Such sources would include peer-reviewed medical and academic journals, medical and academic associations in good standing, and interviews with or blog posts from certified medical professionals.
  • We may link to news articles or peer-reviewed medical blog posts about studies when appropriate, but always attempt to connect directly to the studies these pages discuss.
  • Our scientific information, conclusions, and analysis are always supported by at least one reputable source.
  • We strive to make any potential conflicts of interest attached to any studies or sources clear to our readers. When applicable, we also try to include conflicting research or questions that may throw a study’s conclusion into doubt to clarify that scientific understandings often change and progress over time.
  • Our articles typically link to other articles and resources on our site. This is solely for easier navigation, and we do not promote our website as a medical resource. Try to speak with your physician if you have medical concerns.
  • Any necessary background information on a topic will be included when appropriate.
  • Our goal is for every one of our medical-related articles to be reviewed by our independent board of experts. Should they spot any medical or health-related misinformation or errors, we will strike it out from the final published article.
