Read her full bio here.Considering that we spend ⅓ of our lives sleeping (or trying to sleep), there’s perhaps no better investment in your health and wellness than a good mattress. And an investment it is. Today, you’d be hard-pressed to find a good mattress for less than $ 1,000. And when you don’t know what you don’t know, making a decision can be even harder. As a Certified Sleep Science Coach who has written extensively about sleep health and bedding, I was happy to test the Amerisleep Organica mattress. I tested the mattress in my home for six weeks, and ahead, I offer a detailed and honest Amerisleep Organica mattress review.I’m a hot sleeper, weighing 130 pounds, and side sleeping is my go-to. However, I do roll onto my back from time to time. I’ve had hip issues in the past, so I need plenty of support from my mattress. My bedfellows are my husband and my 15-lb Morkie, both of whom move about throughout the night — so limited motion transfer is a must for me. A pillowy top and edge support are also non-negotiables. Before the arrival of the Amerisleep Organica, I slept on a DreamCloud Premiere Mattress.WHO IS THE AMERISLEEP ORGANICA BEST FOR?Side sleepers: The Amerisleep Organica mattress is a nice hybrid of coils and natural latex, so side sleepers will find that it offers plenty of pressure relief and support.Lightweight or average-weight stomach sleepers and back sleepers: The Amerisleep Organica mattress will also work for lightweight or average-weight stomach sleepers and back sleepers. Heavyweight sleepers in those positions may have to look elsewhere as the support to prevent sinking hips just isn’t there.Combination sleepers: Like the Amerisleep AS3, this mattress is suitable for combination sleepers. While it offers some support for short stretches of multiple sleeping positions, it may not offer enough support for all-night stomach sleepers or back sleepers.Solo sleepers: The combination of a pocket coil system and natural latex makes this mattress quite buoyant. Some sleepers may not appreciate the bounce when their partners toss and turn. This may also extend to pets, as I can see how a large dog changing positions can also be disturbing.Eco-conscious shoppers: This Amerisleep mattress is made with GOTS-certified organic cotton and other natural and organic materials, so it’s an excellent option for anyone looking for an eco-friendly mattress. And unlike the Avocado Green mattress, which has led the pack in organic mattresses, it’s not a budget buster.Hot sleepers: Natural Talalay latex is breathable by design and known to create a temperature-neutral sleeping surface that hot sleepers will appreciate. Claim Deal Unboxing, Setup and First Impressions of the Amerisleep OrganicaI received a full-size Amerisleep Organica mattress. It arrived quickly, and like most mattresses bought online, it’s shipped vacuum-sealed in a box. I also received constant communication via email from Amerisleep regarding the shipment of my bed in a box mattress. Not only did I receive order confirmations, shipment notifications, and delivery confirmations for my online mattress, but I also received informational emails to help with unboxing. There’s even a video link to help those who prefer to watch a video.Per the instructions, I removed my old mattress, opened the box, and placed the Organica mattress on the bed with the outer wrapping still intact. Next, I removed the outer wrapping and unrolled the mattress on the bed. Finally, I cut the inner plastic wrap and let the mattress unroll completely. While some boxed mattresses suggest leaving the mattress to unroll fully for 24 hours or so, this isn’t the case for the Amerisleep Organica mattress. Users can lay on the bed immediately, but the brand does note it may take up to 24 hours for the corners to expand fully. I unrolled the mattress in the morning and let it be for the rest of the day. I slept on it later that night.Shoppers should also note the Organica mattress has a high profile. It measures 13 inches, and if you pair it with a box spring, you’re looking at a hike to get into bed each night. Also, if your headboard is on the low or small side, the mattress and boxspring combo will obscure it.As I unboxed, I didn’t notice any off-gassing, which was not surprising considering the Organica mattress is made with natural latex. The material is far less prone to off-gassing than memory foam, as I understand it, just another advantage of organic latex mattresses. Off-Gassing Score 1 out of 5Elegantly Constructed for Durability and SupportFrom the top down, the Amerisleep Organica mattress is a natural latex hybrid mattress that features:A GOTS-certified organic cotton cover that gives it a pillowy feelA plush fire barrier made with organic Joma woolA bouncy layer of natural Talalay LatexA supportive pocketed coil systemAltogether, I found that the natural latex and coil construction add up to a mattress that’s plush yet supportive and exceptionally bouncy, and the organic cotton cover was cool and gentle to the touch. And it doesn’t hurt that all Amerisleep mattresses have a 20-year warranty.Digging into the fine print a bit, I found that the 20-year warranty covers manufacturing defects and sags greater than 1.5 inches deep, and the resolution depends on the age of the mattress. During the first 10 years of the mattress warranty, Amerisleep will repair or replace a defective mattress at no charge. For Amerisleep mattresses older than 10 years, customers can purchase replacement mattresses at 50% off the purchase price. This can be a good way to save when it’s time to replace a mattress. Durability Score 5 out of 5The Organica Mattress offers Medium Firmness, Comfort, and SupportLike its cousin, the Amerisleep AS3, I would rate the Amerisleep Organica at a 6 on the 10-point firmness scale. I’m an average-weight side sleeper who occasionally rolls onto my back, and I felt ample support in both positions. While it’s good for average-weight sleepers who find themselves on their back or side, heavier-weight sleepers who prefer those positions may not find the support they need here. The Organica mattress is also an excellent option for those who prefer to sleep in their beds as opposed to on it. For comparison, I also have a DreamCloud Premiere, and while it, too, is a combination of natural latex and coils, it’s a firmer mattress, and I feel like I sleep on it with minimal sinking. With the Amerisleep Organica, the mattress hugs my body a bit more. This isn’t a good or bad thing; ultimately, it’s just a matter of personal preference. Support & Comfort Score 5 out of 5 Firmness Score 3 out of 5Good Support and Comfort for Side SleepersA few mattresses back, I had one from The Property Brothers (don’t judge), and for as long as I had it, I consistently felt my night of sleep in my hip. I couldn’t get pressure relief in any sleeping position (side or back). In comparison, the Oganica mattress is an excellent option for side sleepers because it’s firm enough to be supportive and plush enough for exceptional pressure relief. I didn’t have any hip flare-ups during testing. The top layers are also plush enough to contour to my body for side sleeping — another win. While the product description for the Organica mattress boasts firm edge support, I didn’t find that to be the case. This mattress has a lot going for it, but much like the Amerisleep AS3, it does not have good edge support. The edge support is so noticeably absent that it almost seems like there are no coils around the perimeter of the mattress. All things considered, it ends up feeling like a smaller bed because the edges are unusable. If you regularly sit on your bed to put your socks on or sit at the edge when you wake up and get out of bed, you’ll need good edge support, and this isn’t it. Pressure Relief Score 5 out of 5 Edge Support Score 2 out of 5A Hybrid Mattress that Sleeps CoolOf late, I tend to sleep hot, but I found this mattress to be quite cooling. My DreamCloud Premiere is a memory foam mattress with a coil system, and I find it’s a master at trapping heat. The Amerisleep Organica, on the other hand, sleeps pretty cool courtesy of the Talalay latex foam, which is temperature-neutral, and the innerspring coils that allow maximum airflow. The bundle of features make Amerisleep Organica a clear winner for the best mattress 2024 in the Latex category. Temperature Neutrality Score 5 out of 5Rough Seas Ahead: Excessive Motion TransferWhile the latex in the Organica mattress contributes beautifully to pressure relief, comfort, and cool sleep, it also makes the mattress feel incredibly bouncy. In my humble opinion, anyone sleeping with a partner might want to reconsider, as mattress motion isolation can be crucial for sleeping through tossing and turning. Moreover, while some think the bounce also makes it easy to move, I don’t find that to be the case. I think the buoyancy makes it harder to change sleeping positions without feeling like you’re on a waterbed. Motion Isolation Score 2 out of 5 Ease of Movement Score 2 out of 5Value for MoneyWith a price point of $1799 ($1299 on sale) for a queen mattress, the Amerisleep Organica mattress offers users a mattress made with organic materials and an eco-friendly sleep experience for a fraction of the price compared to competitors like Avocado Green, for example. While the Avocado Green costs somewhere around $2400 for a queen, the Amerisleep Organica mattress cost is far more affordable.Even better, you’re not sacrificing comfort or performance to save money. This mattress delivers a comfortable and supportive sleep experience, and it’s made with quality materials. Overall, it’s an excellent value mattress for the money. Not to mention, the 20-year warranty and 100-night sleep trial are hard to beat.Amerisleep Organica Mattress Sizes and PricesAmerisleep Organica SizeDimensionsSales PriceTwin Size38 inches wide by 74 inches long by 13 inches tall$1499Twin XL Size38 inches wide by 80 inches long by 13 inches tall$1549Full Size54 inches wide by 75 inches long by 13 inches tall$1699Queen Size60 inches wide by 80 inches long by 13 inches tall$1749King Size76 inches wide by 80 inches long by 13 inches tall$2049California King Size72 inches wide by 84 inches long by 13 inches tall$2049Split King SizeTwo mattresses 38 inches wide by 80 inches long by 13 inches tall$2798 Get your own Amerisleep Organica today and save up to $450 with our discount code Check Latest PricesCustomer Reviews of the Amerisleep Organica MattressThe Organica mattress scores 4.79 out of 5 stars on 24 customer reviews. Overall, customers said it’s comfortable, supportive, and holds its shape.Other reviewers said:TMK, who highly recommends the Amerisleep Organica mattress and rated it a 5 out of 5, said, “Literally from the first time I laid on it, I was beyond satisfied. It is so comfortable. [This is] exactly what I was looking for. Every night, when I go to bed, I notice how good it feels, and when I wake up in the morning, I think the same thing. I’ve slept better since having this mattress than I have in years. My husband, who has back issues, also likes the mattress and finds the softness/firmness level to be exactly what he needs. I would definitely buy this mattress again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a mattress made with superior quality and comfort.”Gal809, who also gave the Organica mattress a 5 out of 5, said, “This definitely is softer than you would think based on the firmness rating. I wish it were a little firmer, but my partner thinks it is perfect. For info, I am 5’7″, 150 lbs and my partner is 6’1″ and 270lbs. I am a side sleeper, he is a flip-flop-around sleeper. The main pros: no chemical smell, and it feels good to have organic at a reasonable price. The main con: it’s really significantly softer than advertised. It is also pretty good in terms of movement distribution. I don’t get woken up by the “fish” next to me.”Sharon Brandwein’s Final Score TallyCategoryScoreOff-Gassing Odor1 out of 5Durability5 out of 5Support & Comfort5 out of 5Firmness3 out of 5Pressure Relief5 out of 5Edge Support2 out of 5Temperature Neutrality5 out of 5Ease of Movement2 out of 5Motion Isolation2 out of 5Dr. Jordan Burns Final Score TallyCategoryScoreOff-Gassing Odor10 out of 10Mattress Responsiveness10 out of 10Motion Isolation9 out of 10Edge Support9 out of 10Breathability and Cooling Features9 out of 10Overall Score9 out of 10ConclusionThe Amerisleep Organica is a hybrid mattress that features a pocketed coil layer, an organic cotton cover, and natural Talalay latex, all of which come together for a soft and breathable natural mattress that offers exceptional pressure relief. As far as hybrid mattresses go, the Organica mattress works for anyone who prefers side sleeping and those looking for an organic mattress. Like most latex mattresses, it also sleeps cool, making it an excellent choice for hot sleepers. While this foam mattress with a pocketed coil system offers good support for your preferred sleeping position, buyers should keep in mind that it lacks edge support.A price point coming in under $2000 is hard to beat, but anyone still on the fence can also take advantage of the brand’s extended trial period and generous return policy. Sleep on the Amerisleep Organica mattress for 100 nights – if it doesn’t help you sleep better, you can start the refund process. Customers can also initiate refunds after 30 days. And, of course, it doesn’t hurt that the brand offers free shipping on your new mattress.Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)Is the Amerisleep Organica suitable for all sleeping positions? The Amerisleep Organica mattress is best suited for side sleepers and combination sleepers who switch between their side and back.
