Updated August 23, 2022

PandaZZZ is a new sleep company who set out to design a simple and high-quality mattress for all. Backed by scientists, engineers, and sleep product experts, PandaZZZ’s goal is to offer a reliable mattress without breaking your bank.

They currently offer two memory foam mattresses: the 12” Memory Foam Mattress and 8” Mattress. Whether you’re interested in saving money or just looking for a worthwhile mattress, PandaZZZ is worth checking out.

We break down everything you need to know about PandaZZZ as a company, along with the mattresses they offer to help you find the perfect bed.

The Good

  • PandaZZZ mattresses are built to work for most sleeping positions due to their balance of support and cushioning.
  • No PandaZZZ mattress, regardless of its size, costs over $1000.
  • Both mattresses have CertiPUR-US® and OEKO-TEX® certifications, ensuring they won’t emit harmful chemicals or off-gas.

The Not-So-Good

  • PandaZZZ currently only offers two mattress options, the 12” and 8” mattresses.
  • PandaZZZ mattresses are sold exclusively online. While they do offer a 100-night sleep trial for their online mattresses, you won’t be able to feel the mattresses before making a purchase.

PandaZZZ Mattress Similarities

PandaZZZ offers two of the best memory foam mattresses on the market. While the mattresses have distinct characteristics, they feature some of the same characteristics.

Removable Outer Cover – Both mattresses offered at PandaZZZ have removable and washable covers with a zipper. This way, you can easily remove the cover and clean it without damaging the actual mattress.

Anti-Slip Bottom Cover – The cover is made from an OEKO-TEX® certified hypoallergenic knit similar to cotton. It’s long-lasting, cooling, and has a zipper so you can easily remove the cover and wash it. At the bottom of the mattress, the cover has silicone nubs to prevent slipping and movement.

Premium Base Foam – PandaZZZ uses a durable base foam for both of their mattresses. This layer supports the spine to prevent pain and help you sleep comfortably. The premium base foam is also resistant to wear including sags, soft spots, and indentations.

The Basics – All PandaZZZ mattresses come with the following:

  • Warranty – PandaZZZ offers a 12-year limited warranty covering workmanship defects and sags. If your mattress sags beyond a certain point, you can have it repaired or replaced at a prorated price.
  • Sleep Trial – With any PandaZZZ mattress, you receive a 100-night sleep trial. This means you can take the bed home and use it as normal. If you decide you dislike the mattress within the first 100 nights, you can return it for a full refund.
  • Certifications – The foam and fabrics in PandaZZZ mattresses are both CertiPUR-US® and OEKO-TEX® certified.
  • Shipping – Every PandaZZZ mattress ships straight to your home for free.

12” Memory Foam Mattress

The PandaZZZ 12” Memory Foam Mattress is their best-seller. This cooling mattress is an excellent option if you’re shopping on a budget but don’t want to skimp on support or comfort. It has a medium feel and is a 6 on the mattress firmness scale.

Inside the 12” Memory Foam Mattress is a comfort system made from Cool & Flex memory foam and AirCell memory foam. At the base of the bed is durable base foam.

The cover is made from an OEKO-TEX® certified hypoallergenic knit similar to cotton, establishing a mattress for allergies. It’s long-lasting, cooling, and has a zipper so you can easily remove the cover and wash it. At the bottom of the mattress, the cover has silicone nubs to prevent slipping and movement.

At the top of your mattress is Cool & Flex memory foam. It is, unsurprisingly, cooling, and flexible. This cooler foam relieves pressure points and feels soft without being overly unsupportive. With the AirCell transition memory foam, you’re sure to sleep peacefully. The AirCell foam promotes breathability and draws away moisture to prevent you from overheating at night.

The thickest layer in the PandaZZZ Mattress is the high-density base. It’s firm and sturdy to support healthy spinal alignment. The base layer adds an excellent bounce to the bed and helps with its durability.

Back

The 12” Memory Foam Mattress is excellent for most back sleepers, but especially back sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds. The medium (6) feel of the 12” Memory Foam Mattress supports a healthy spine without feeling overly firm to prevent lower back pain.

Side

With its medium feel, this bed is an excellent mattress for side sleepers. This softer mattress will provide the right amount of support to align your spine, but won’t be so firm as to cause hip and shoulder pain. The AirCell memory foam will ensure your body stays lifted and helps with pressure relief.

Stomach

Stomach sleepers typically need medium-firm mattresses or firm mattresses to sleep comfortably. So, the 12” Memory Foam Mattress may be too soft for average and heavier sleepers. Still, some petite sleepers may be able to stomach sleep on this bed.

8” Mattress

The PandaZZZ 8” Mattress is a budget-friendly choice with similar features to the 12” Memory Foam Mattress. It contains non-toxic memory foam and is a popular choice amongst growing children and teens.

The 8” Mattress features a zippable jacquard knit cover. It promotes temperature control and dissipates moisture. The bottom side of the cover features silicone to prevent your mattress from moving. Under the cover is two foam layers.

The comfort layer of the mattress is made from cooling gel memory foam. It’s long-lasting, wicks away moisture from your body, and promotes airflow. The memory foam contours to your curves and ensures pain and pressure point relief. The second layer is the same premium base foam as seen in the 12” Memory Foam Mattress, only thinner.

Back

With its medium feel, the 8” is a hit or miss for back sleepers. Some back sleepers—namely petite people and children—will find this firmness great, but it’s not a perfect choice for everyone.

Side

Side sleepers will love the 8” Mattress for its cushiony gel memory foam and excellent support. The top layer protects your hips and shoulders from pressure build-up, making it easier to sleep comfortably.

Stomach

Like with the 12” Memory Foam Mattress, stomach sleepers may not love the 8” Mattress due to its softness. If you’re getting the 8” Mattress for a child or teen, they may be able to sleep on their stomach comfortably. However, the average-weight sleeper and heavier people won’t be able to stomach sleep well on this bed.

PandaZZZ vs. The Competition

Tuft & Needle

  • Tuft & Needle is another mattress in a box brand that primarily sells simple and affordable mattresses.
  • Like PandaZZZ, Tuft & Needle offers two types of all-foam mattresses. Unlike PandaZZZ, Tuft & Needle offers a third hybrid mattress, the Tuft & Needle Hybrid.
  • The Tuft & Needle Mattress is comparable to the PandaZZZ 8” Mattress. The Tuft & Needle Mint is similar to the 12” Memory Foam Mattress.
  • Tuft & Needle uses a proprietary Adaptive Foam® infused with gel and graphite rather than a traditional memory foam. PandaZZZ uses gel memory foam, Cool & Flex memory foam, and AirCell memory foam in their beds.
  • Despite advertising itself as an affordable mattress in a box brand, Tuft & Needle’s mattresses are significantly more expensive than PandaZZZ’s mattresses. A T&N mattress starts at $580 for a twin and $805 for a queen.
  • PandaZZZ offers a free set of pillows when you purchase a 12” Memory Foam Mattress. Tuft & Needle doesn’t offer a free gift with purchase, but they do offer a discounted sheet and pillow set when you buy a mattress.
  • Both Tuft & Needle and PandaZZZ offer mattresses, pillows, mattress pads, and memory foam mattress toppers. In addition to this, T&N offers a variety of blankets, sheets, and furniture.
  • Tuft & Needle offers a 100-night sleep trial, 10-year warranty, and free shipping and returns for their mattresses. PandaZZZ provides a 100-night sleep trial, 12-year warranty, and free shipping.

Is PandaZZZ Right For You?

Pros

  • PandaZZZ mattresses suit a wide variety of sleepers, including couples.
  • All PandaZZZ mattresses, regardless of size, cost less than $1000.
  • The CertiPUR-US® certification means PandaZZZ mattresses of free of heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates, and are low in VOCs.
  • The OEKO-TEX® certification ensures the mattresses are non-toxic and sustainable

Cons

  • Buyers won’t be able to get a mattress with targeted support or other advanced sleep technologies at PandaZZZ.
  • There is no reliable PandaZZZ Mattress for stomach sleepers.
  • As of today, PandaZZZ does not offer a hybrid or innerspring mattress model.

FAQs

Where can you buy a PandaZZZ mattress?

You can find PandaZZZ mattresses directly on their website, or through third-party marketplaces on Walmart or Amazon websites. There are currently no physical stores where you can buy PandaZZZ mattresses. However, PandaZZZ includes a 100-night trial for their beds so you have ample time to decide if you want to keep it.

What sizes do PandaZZZ mattresses come in?

PandaZZZ mattresses come in the following sizes:

  • Twin (38 by 75 inches)
  • Full (54 by 75 inches)
  • Queen (60 by 80 inches)
  • King (76 by 80 inches)
  • California king (72 by 84 inches)

We recommend twin and full beds for single sleepers with smaller rooms and the larger mattress sizes for couples who want to share.

How long do PandaZZZ mattresses last?

PandaZZZ mattresses last about 8 to 10 years, or the rough lifespan of a foam mattress. Since PandaZZZ offers a 12-year warranty for their mattresses, you can have your bed repaired or replaced if it wears down within that time. So with proper maintenance, you can help your PandaZZZ mattress last slightly longer.

Does you need a box spring with the PandaZZZ mattress?

No, PandaZZZ mattresses are made entirely of foam and box springs aren’t proper foundations for all-foam and latex beds. Box springs only work for traditional innerspring mattresses, which PandaZZZ does not offer. With memory foam beds, use a slatted or solid foundation, adjustable bed, bunkie board, or a platform bed.

Do you need to flip PandaZZZ mattresses?

No, both PandaZZZ mattresses have a top-down construction. This means there is a specific top and bottom for the mattress. Flipping your PandaZZZ mattress leaves it vulnerable to damage (voiding your warranty) and means you’ll be sleeping on the firm base, not the cushiony comfort layer.

Minimize wear on your PandaZZZ mattress by rotating it 180 degrees once every three to six months.

Conclusion

PandaZZZ is an up-and-coming mattress brand worth your time and attention. Whether you’re shopping on a budget, buying a mattress for a guest bedroom, or looking for a reliable children’s mattress, PandaZZZ is the way to go.

Despite their affordable price, PandaZZZ still offers a hefty warranty and sleep trial, along with using sustainable and non-toxic materials for their beds.
