With the advent of the mattress in a box industry, it is easier than ever for shoppers to get a high-quality mattress sent directly to their doorstep. Plus, many online brands also offer a wholesale program that allows mattress stores, hotels, resorts, interior designers, and home staging companies to purchase bulk mattress orders at a discounted price. In addition to a more affordable price, a wholesale program offers companies many other benefits, including sales support, marketing tools, and customer service.

If you own a business and have considered developing a wholesale partnership for mattresses, we are here to help. We outline three well-known brands offering a comprehensive and valuable wholesale program that can help any company save money on high-end, luxury mattresses.

Best Wholesale Mattress Programs of 2023

Amerisleep – Best Overall Wholesale Mattress Program

Best Mattress for Combination Sleepers

Amerisleep is a popular mattress in a box brand offering eight different mattresses—five memory foam and three hybrid beds. Each of their mattresses features a comfort layer made of their proprietary memory foam, Bio-Pur®. This foam is manufactured with plant-based oils rather than 100 percent petroleum-based oils, giving it more breathability and responsiveness than traditional memory foam. This material is also eco-friendly and certified by CertiPUR-US® to be safe for you and your family.

Each Amerisleep mattress is designed to suit a specific body type and sleep style, allowing retailers to satisfy every customer’s needs. Amerisleep also offers several beds with a universal comfort level, perfect for use in a hotel, resort, or short-term rental property. Below, we outline each of Amerisleep’s advanced mattresses.

Mattresses

AS1

The AS1 is Amerisleep’s firmest mattress designed for back and stomach sleepers. With a 10-inch profile, this bed has an ultra-firm Bio-Pur® comfort layer to keep the hips and shoulders lifted and aligned with very little sinking. The base of the AS1 is made of Amerisleep’s Bio-Core® foam, a robust and sturdy material to ensure the firm top layer doesn’t develop indentations that could change the structure of the mattress.

AS2

The AS2 has a medium-firm feel, ideal for those with back pain. This mattress offers firm lumbar support to prevent spinal misalignment. It also has a slight give to keep the joints cushioned and protected from pressure points.

The AS2 also has a transition layer made with Amerisleep’s Affinity foam with HIVE® technology. Along the surface of this foam, hundreds of hexagonal cutouts ensure each area of the body is resting comfortably on the mattress while the spinal remains neutral.

AS3

The AS3 is Amerisleep’s most universal mattress because it has a medium comfort level, ideal for back, side, and combination sleepers. The Bio-Pur® comfort layer in the AS3 is soft and conforming to cradle the body for instant pressure relief. However, this material is also highly responsive to prevent excess sinking that could force the spine to bow.

Like the AS2, the AS3 has a transition layer of Affinity foam with HIVE® technology to promote deep relaxation and a healthy sleep position.

AS3 Hybrid

The AS3 Hybrid has the same comfort and transition layer as the all-foam model, but with a spring coil base. This mattress is perfect for those who prefer the slight bounce of an innerspring mattress and want the pressure relief that comes with memory foam. Each coil in this base is individually wrapped to ensure accurate contouring. Coils also move independently of one another to reduce motion transfer and noise.

AS4

The AS4 has a medium-soft feel that works well for side sleepers who prefer deeper contouring. The comfort layer of the AS4 is soft yet responsive, so sleepers stay supported even when changing positions. Although this material is conforming, it won’t cause sleepers to feel “stuck” in the mattress, making it easy for them to get in and out of bed.

The AS4 also has a foam transition layer with its unique HIVE® technology. HIVE® is zoned to provide extra support to the head, back, and legs to prevent sinking and uncomfortable sleep positions. This layer is also softer near the joints to prevent tension build-up.

AS5

Amerisleep’s AS5 is their softest mattress specially designed for side sleepers and lightweight individuals who need more cushioning to prevent pressure points. The AS5 has a plush feel that immediately envelops the sleepers for maximum comfort.

Although most soft mattresses usually create too much sinkage that can cause spinal misalignment, Amerisleep prevents this with their Active Flex transition layer. Active Flex has a latex-like elasticity to lift and align the hips and shoulders, so sleepers wake with less pain.

AS5 Hybrid

Like the all-foam AS5, the AS5 Hybrid has a soft, conforming comfort layer and a responsive transition layer to prevent spinal misalignment. However, the hybrid model has a spring coil base instead of a foam base. Throughout the foundation, the pocketed spring coils prevent excess sinking so muscles can fully relax and recover during sleep. This mattress is perfect for heavier individuals who prefer a soft bed but want to avoid uncomfortable sinking.

Each Amerisleep Mattress is available in most standard mattress sizes, including twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, and California king size.

Other Wholesale Mattress Programs

Amerisleep is our recommendation to those looking for a wholesale program with great benefits and a high-quality product. However, two other brands, Zoma and Purple, also stand out. Below, we cover what these two other brands offer in terms of their wholesale program.

Zoma

Zoma King Size Mattress

Zoma offers two advanced models, the Zoma Mattress and the Zoma Hybrid. They also provide an extensive wholesale program to their business partners. Several hotels already partner with Zoma to provide their guests with a comfortable night’s sleep, including A-Lodge Hotel, an upscale rustic retreat in Northern Colorado.

Both Zoma Mattresses feature their gel memory foam comfort layer with zoned support. The gel-infusion works to pull heat and moisture away from the surface of the bed to prevent night sweats and overheating. The foam layer is also embedded with cutouts, each designed to respond to different pressure levels. Near the lumbar spine, cutouts are firm to prevent spinal misalignment. However, near the hip and shoulder joints, cutouts are spaced further apart to provide more cushioning and pressure relief.

Both Zoma Mattresses also have a responsive transition layer designed to prevent over sinking and reduce morning aches and pains. However, both mattresses have a different base. Zoma’s hybrid mattress has a spring coil base with individually wrapped coils and reinforced edge support to reduce motion transfer. The Zoma Mattress, on the other hand, has a stable foam base to support the top layers and prevent sagging.

Each Zoma Mattress is also available in a variety of sizes, including twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, and California king.

Zoma’s Wholesale Program

Zoma’s offers their wholesale discount to furniture stores, hotels, property managers, and home stagers. There is no fee to join, and they will work with you to develop a partnership that drives your business. Becoming part of Zoma’s Wholesale Program comes with the following benefits:

  • Customized pricing plans: Zoma offers customized pricing plans, ensuring each business is giving the lowest price possible and one that works within their budget.
  • One-on-one support: Each Zoma partner has access to individualized coaching to help with every step of the process.
  • Social media and digital marketing: Zoma using their extensive digital marketing program to promote your business and secure a successful partnership.

Purple®

Purple Mattress

Several brick and mortar stores now partner with Purple®, including Mattress Firm and Macy’s. We break down the three different types of mattresses available at Purple® and their business partnership benefits.

Purple® offers three different beds, the original Purple® Mattress, the Purple® Hybrid, and the Purple® Hybrid Premier. All three mattresses feature a comfort layer made of their unique Purple Grid™. This grid is made of a Hyper-Elastic Polymer®, which flexes even with intense pressure to keep sleepers supported throughout the night.

The original Purple® Mattress is made with 2 inches of the Purple Grid® and multiple poly-foam layers in various firmness levels. The Purple® Hybrid features 2 inches of the Purple Grid® with a spring coil base, while the Purple® Hybrid Premier comes with 3 to 4 inches of the grid and a coil base. No matter which model you choose, each Purple® mattress provides no-pressure support.

Purple’s® Wholesale Program

Purple® offers their wholesale mattress program to brick and mortar mattress and furniture realtors. Their partnership comes with the following benefits.

  • Exclusive product promotions: Businesses that are part of Purple’s Wholesale Program get exclusive access to new products before they are available to the public.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need a box spring with a memory foam mattress?

No. Most high-quality memory foam mattresses should not be placed on a box spring. Most box springs only support the mattress’s perimeter, causing the middle of the bed to sink and develop indentations. A memory foam mattress should rest on a stable, flat surface or a slatted foundation with slats no more than 3 inches apart.

What mattress do luxury hotels use?

Most luxury hotel mattresses are hybrid mattresses—they consist of a pressure-relieving foam comfort layer and spring coil base. These beds typically have a medium-firm feel that works well from most sleep positions and body types. The bounce of a hybrid mattress feels similar to a traditional innerspring mattress; however, the foam top layer provides tension relief and deep relaxation.

If memory foam back for your back?

No matter what type of mattress you have, if it is too soft for your sleep style and body type, it could cause back pain. Back pain is often caused by excessive sinking that can force the spine out of alignment, leading to tension build-up. To prevent back pain, the hips and shoulders should be kept in alignment, so the spine is neutral. When the spine’s natural curvature is retained, and the joints are cushioned, the muscles can fully relax.

Are firm mattresses good for side sleepers?

When resting on your side, the hip and shoulder joints bear most of the body weight. If the mattress is too firm, it can cause tension in these areas, resulting in painful pressure points. Therefore, the best mattresses for side sleepers are soft to medium-soft because they are soft enough to cushion and protect the joints.

What is the best time to buy a mattress?

The best time to buy a mattress is during May, June, and July. During this time, many online retailers offer huge discounts for Memorial Day.

Many manufacturers are also preparing to release new models in August in September, so they are looking to sell through older models during May, June, and July. These are great times to purchase a new mattress at a budget-friendly price.

Conclusion

Whether you are a new or established business owner, a wholesale mattress program is a great way to save money on a high-quality product. When considering a program, be sure to partner with a brand willing to work with you in terms of pricing and order size. A wholesale relationship will do you no good if it does not fit within your budget and needs. Amerisleep, Zoma, and Purple all offer comprehensive plans designed to be beneficial for both parties. Plus, they produce some of the most innovative and supportive online mattresses on the market.
