Claim Deal Watch Our Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid Video ReviewIf you’re chasing that cloud-nine sleep—floaty, soft, yet surprisingly supportive—our team found that the Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid checks every box. After testing a variety of soft mattresses for this guide, this one stood out for its plush feel, targeted support, and overall quality. We researched, we analyzed, and after spending numerous nights lying down and getting up (with no backaches), we awarded it the top spot. The Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid is designed to feel luxuriously soft, yet not in a way that allows you to sink and disappear. It uses Amerisleep’s signature Bio-Pur® memory foam, which feels cushiony without trapping your body. It cradles your curves, especially around the shoulders and hips, making it ideal for side sleepers or anyone who wants maximum pressure relief. But what impressed our testers was the addition of a special layer called Active Flex. This gives the mattress a subtle bounce that keeps you lifted just enough so you don’t feel stuck or swallowed whole by the softness. One common issue with super-soft mattresses is heat retention, but the AS5 Hybrid doesn’t fall into that trap. The open-cell design of the foam promotes airflow, and the cover is designed to stay cool to the touch. Throughout our testing, we found this mattress kept things consistently breathable, even in warmer settings. And it’s not just comfort—it’s solid under the hood too. The hybrid design means you get hundreds of individually wrapped coils under all that softness, helping with spinal alignment and edge support. Whether you’re stretched out in the center or perched on the edge, tying your shoes, the bed stays stable and secure. Why Our Testers Loved ItIt feels soft in all the right ways—luxuriously plush but still supportive.Movement doesn’t travel across the surface, making it great for couples. It stays cool through the night, even when sleeping on your side or stomach.Built to last with sturdy materials and a thoughtful design. 8.8 Overall Score 8 Value 9 Edge Support 9 Trial Period 8 Response Time 9 Motion Transfer 10 Cooling & Breathability How Lying Down Feels? The first time I eased onto the Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid, I felt an immediate sense of relief. The mattress welcomed me with a gentle embrace, its plush surface contouring to my body in a way that felt both soothing and supportive. As I settled in, I noticed how the Bio-Pur® memory foam responded to my body’s curves, offering a cradle-like sensation that alleviated pressure points, especially around my shoulders and hips. This was particularly beneficial when lying on my side, as it allowed these areas to sink in just enough to maintain proper spinal alignment without feeling engulfed.Transitioning to my back, the mattress continued to impress. The Active Flex layer provided a subtle bounce, ensuring that I didn’t feel stuck, while still delivering the cushioning needed for a restful sleep. My lower back felt adequately supported, a testament to the thoughtful layering of materials that balance softness with necessary firmness.Throughout the night, I was struck by how cool the mattress remained. The breathable design and cooling cover worked in tandem to dissipate heat, preventing the usual warmth that can accumulate with traditional memory foam mattresses. This cooling effect contributed to uninterrupted sleep, free from the discomfort of overheating. Tester Feedback: We dug deep into user feedback for the Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid, and the praise was loud and clear—this mattress is a dream for those who crave pressure relief, softness, and cool comfort. Our testing lined up closely with what real users had to say.One side sleeper wrote, “I tried five different mattresses and returned them all—until I found the AS5 Hybrid. I wake up without hip or shoulder pain almost every day now.” That kind of feedback confirms the impact of the plush Bio-Pur® foam and targeted support layers, which are designed to ease tension around pressure points.Another reviewer shared, “I used to wake up sore from my old Tempur mattress, especially in my shoulders. This one feels soft without making me sink in too far—it’s the best I’ve felt in years.” We found the same during our tests—the mattress hugs your body just enough, without swallowing you.Several users also commented on the cool sleep surface, with one saying, “I was worried it would sleep hot, but it feels cooler than my old pillow top.” That aligns with our team’s experience and matches the expert opinion of Dr. Burns, who highlighted the AS5 Hybrid’s excellent temperature regulation and pressure-relieving comfort.Across the board, user experiences and expert analysis point to one thing: the Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid truly delivers cloud-like comfort without compromise. Inside the Mattress:The Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid isn’t just soft on the surface—it’s thoughtfully built from top to bottom to create that cloud-like comfort it’s known for. Each layer inside this mattress works in harmony to deliver pressure relief, cooling, and adaptive support. Cooling Comfort CoverRight at the surface, the AS5 Hybrid starts strong with a breathable, ultra-soft cover. This cooling fabric wicks away heat and promotes airflow, so you stay cool even if you’re a hot sleeper. It’s the first line of defense against stuffy nights. Bio-Pur® Memory Foam (Soft & Responsive)Beneath the cover lies Amerisleep’s signature Bio-Pur® foam—a plant-based memory foam that feels plush and cradling, yet responsive. It cushions the body while bouncing back quicker than traditional memory foam, preventing that “sinking in too far” feeling. This layer is key to the AS5’s signature softness and contouring feel. Active Flex Transition LayerBelow the comfort foam is the Active Flex layer. This dynamic material acts like a springy bridge between the plush top and the firmer support below. It adds a subtle, buoyant lift, so when you change positions, the mattress moves with you rather than swallowing you. It’s especially helpful for combination sleepers who don’t want to feel stuck. Zoned Pocketed Coils (Support + Airflow)At the base, a layer of individually wrapped coils adds durable support. But these aren’t just any coils—they’re zoned. That means firmer support under your hips and lower back, and softer give under the shoulders, promoting better alignment and reducing pressure where you need it most. The coils also improve airflow throughout the mattress and isolate motion, so your partner’s tossing and turning won’t ripple across the bed. High-Density Foam BaseThe final layer is a firm foam base that supports the entire structure and adds longevity. It anchors the mattress while helping the coils stay upright and responsive over the years of use. Pros and Cons:ProsDeep pressure relief for side and combo sleepersExcellent motion isolation for couplesZoned coils for enhanced lumbar supportSleeps noticeably cooler than most memory foamsBalanced feel—soft yet responsiveConsToo plush for some stomach sleepers What the testers say: “I’ve found that the stability and security offered when transitioning from lying down to sitting on the edge of the bed are crucial for user confidence and safety. And I’m pleased to report the AS5 Hybrid excelled here as well, earning a 5 out of 5 for its edge support. Unlike other foam/spring mattresses where I’ve felt unsteady and at risk of falling when sitting up on the side, this mattress instills confidence.” – Dr. Jennifer Miller, PT, DPT, AS5 Hybrid Reviewer Read Our Full Review of the Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid Mattress 2. So we tested the Zoma Boost, and let’s just say, this mattress seriously delivered. Our team of testers stretched out on the Boost, and the first thing we noticed? That plush, almost pillowy top layer that wraps around your body like it knows you’ve had a long day. This is a hybrid mattress stacked 15 inches high with cooling foam and bouncy coils—and it’s every bit as dreamy as it sounds. Here’s What Makes It Feel So Luxe:Cloud-soft top, sturdy bottom –The quilted cover is cool-to-the-touch, and it kicks things off with a gentle hug. Underneath, there’s graphite-infused memory foam (yep, that means heat doesn’t get trapped), followed by a super responsive layer that keeps you from sinking in too deep.Coils that don’t creak –At the base, hundreds of pocketed coils move independently, so the Boost gives you full-body support without that bouncy-bed feeling. Plus, airflow between the coils helps everything stay cool. That “just right” feel –We’d rate it a medium feel—soft enough to cradle your pressure points, but firm enough to keep your spine happy. Whether you’re a side sleeper, back sleeper, or the roll-around-all-night type, this one adapts without missing a beat.Cool and Cozy—Even If You Sleep HotWe analyzed this one closely for temperature control, and it passed every test. Thanks to the breathable materials and smart foam layering, our testers stayed comfy without waking up sweaty. It’s basically like your bed has its built-in climate control. It’s Great for Couples, TooSharing the bed? You won’t feel your partner tossing and turning. The motion isolation here is solid, and edge support means you can sprawl out without sliding off. 9.5 Overall Score 10 Value 10 Edge Support 9 Trial Period 9 Response Time 10 Motion Transfer 9 Cooling & Breathability How Lying Down Feels?Let me be honest—this mattress caught me off guard in the best way.I expected it to be like other luxury hybrids: nice, but maybe too soft or too firm in places. Instead, I got something that felt incredibly balanced, cloud-like without being floppy, and supportive without feeling stiff. That First Sink-In Feeling?Pure plush comfort. The quilted cover feels instantly cool, almost like touching a chilled pillowcase on a summer night. The foam underneath gives this slow, cozy sink that cradles pressure points just right. But then… surprise! A light bounce kicks in and keeps your body from ever getting “stuck.”Pressure Relief Without the QuicksandWhat I loved most? Even as I melted into the top layers, I didn’t feel like I was sinking endlessly. The Reactiv™ foam added a little spring-back, enough to move freely, roll over, and shift positions without that awkward resistance some memory foams give you.Great for side sleeping, but also…On my back, my hips felt perfectly supported—no sagging or weird dips.On my side, my shoulders felt cushioned and my spine stayed neutral.Even stomach sleeping felt decent thanks to that coil base doing its job underneath.I’m the type who sprawls. So edge support matters. And yeah, I felt secure sitting on the edge or sleeping near it. The perimeter held up just as well as the center—no collapsing feeling. Tester Feedback:“Never slept better.”“The mattress contours to my body perfectly and relieves pressure from my lower back, which has always been a problem for me.” – Dana R.That pressure-relieving comfort Dana talks about? It’s thanks to Zoma’s Reactiv™ zoned foam. It adapts to your shape while maintaining support where you need it most, especially around the hips and shoulders.“I don’t wake up sweating anymore.”“I’m a hot sleeper, but the Zoma Boost stays cool all night. I wake up refreshed instead of drenched in sweat.” – Chris W.With its breathable hybrid design and cool-to-the-touch cover, this mattress really goes the distance on temperature control. Inside the Mattress:So what gives the Vaya Hybrid that signature “cloud mattress” feel? It all comes down to what’s inside. This mattress isn’t just soft and supportive by accident — every layer has a job to do, and together, they create a seriously comfortable, breathable, and balanced sleep surface.Top Layer: Vaya Comfort Foam (2”)Right up top is a 2-inch layer of Vaya’s exclusive comfort foam. When you lie down, this is the first thing you’ll feel — and it’s dreamy. It’s soft without being squishy, and it cradles your body without making you feel stuck. What’s more, it’s breathable. The open-cell design helps air flow freely, so heat doesn’t get trapped around your body. That’s a huge win for hot sleepers or anyone who just likes a cooler sleep environment.Middle Layer: Pocketed Coil Support Core (8”)Beneath the foam is the heart of the hybrid — 8 inches of individually-wrapped coils. These aren’t your average springs. Each one moves on its own, which means they respond to your body more precisely, reduce motion transfer, and help keep your spine aligned. The bounce is subtle but supportive, so you don’t sink in too far. Bonus: These coils also let air move through the mattress, adding to that cool, breathable design.Base Layer: Durable Support Foam (1”)Anchoring the mattress is a 1-inch layer of high-density base foam. It acts like a foundation, absorbing weight and keeping the entire structure solid and long-lasting. Despite its hugging nature, the foam never feels clingy; it releases and remolds as I shift position, preventing that “stuck” feeling common with lower-quality foams.Seamless Shifts: Zoned Coil ResponsivenessWhen I roll from my side onto my back, the zoned pocketed coils work in concert to provide tailored support. The firmer coils under my lumbar region gently lift and align my spine, while the softer coils around my shoulders and hips allow for a natural sink. Every movement feels fluid—there’s no abrupt jolt or wrestling match to reposition myself. Instead, the mattress offers just the right amount of push-back, so rolling over feels effortless and almost weightless.Edge Assurance: Perimeter StabilityPerched on the edge to tie my shoes, I’m reassured by the reinforced high-density foam rails that surround the mattress. There’s zero wobble or droop, even when I lean heavily to one side. That solid edge support not only makes sitting easier but also extends the usable sleep surface, so I never worry about rolling off during the night.Quiet Harmony: Soundless SupportThroughout my time on the mattress, I’m struck by how silently it performs. There are no creaks from the coils, no rustling from the fabric—just a consistent, muted response to every shift. This hushed performance means my partner and I can move freely without disturbing one another, and it sets the stage for an undisturbed, restorative sleep. Tester Feedback:Our community of sleepers—ranging from side sleepers to back-pain sufferers—has been vocal about their experiences on the Saatva Classic Plush Soft. Here’s what they had to say:“I wake up with no lower back pain! This mattress really supports my lumbar region without feeling rock hard.” — reviewerThis aligns perfectly with Dr. Burns’s expert assessment, which highlighted the zoned pocketed coils’ ability to cradle the midsection while relieving pressure elsewhere. Testers appreciated how the firmer coils under the lumbar zone promoted spinal alignment, just as Dr. Burns observed in his lab analyses.“I haven’t noticed any dips or depressions even after months of use. The edge support is fantastic—I can sit comfortably without feeling like I’ll slide off.” — reviewerThat comment echoes our durability tests. We found the high-density foam rails surrounding the coil system held firm under repeated pressure, ensuring the full sleep surface remains usable night after night.“I’m a mix of side and back sleeper, and my shoulders and hips don’t hurt anymore. Only gripe is a bit of motion transfer, but it’s manageable.” —Mattress userIndeed, while the individually wrapped coils absorb much motion, the base’s Bonnell coils can transmit slight movement—something our team noted as a minor trade-off for the enhanced breathability and responsive lift.Across dozens of real-world reviews, the Saatva Classic Plush Soft shines for its balanced blend of plush Euro pillow top comfort and sturdy innerspring support. Whether you’re easing into a side-sleeping position or shifting onto your back, these tester insights confirm what Dr. Burns and our team discovered in controlled trials: a cloud-like feel grounded by smart engineering. Zoned Pocketed Coil System (8″)Engineering Details: Over 800 individually wrapped coils divided into five ergonomic zones, plus 400 base coils for overall lift.Performance Notes: Our weight-distribution trials showed optimal spinal alignment—firmer support under the lumbar zone, softer response at shoulders and hips—without the high-energy bounce of traditional springs. Robust Edge SupportDesign & Durability: High-density foam rails surrounding the coil unit, reinforced by a welded steel frame.Tester Feedback: Sitting-edge tests held firm under 300+ pounds with zero compression. At 14 inches thick, it features a luxurious Euro top design that blends responsive support with contouring comfort—ideal for side sleepers, back sleepers, and combination sleepers alike.GLACIERTECH° Elite Cooling Cover—a high-performance fabric that feels refreshingly cool to the touch the moment you lie down. It’s designed to actively draw heat away from your body and maintain a breathable sleep surface all night long. Beneath that, layers of advanced cooling foams deliver not just temperature control but also targeted pressure relief. We were especially impressed by the CopperELEMENT™ foam, which works double duty: it pulls excess heat away from the body while also offering antimicrobial protection. This layer is followed by CarbonICE™ graphite-infused memory foam, which provides additional cooling along with superior lumbar support. Together, these foams create a cool, cushioned, and contouring surface that feels like sleeping on a supportive cloud. To round it all out, the Glacier Apex Hybrid uses more than 1,000 individually wrapped coils (in queen size and larger), offering excellent motion isolation and edge support. Our testers noted that even with a partner moving throughout the night, disturbances were minimal—something hot sleepers with restless bedmates will appreciate. And it’s not just about performance. This mattress is also a win for eco-conscious shoppers. It’s fiberglass-free and uses natural thistle pulp fibers for safe, flame-retardant protection. Plus, its cover includes REPREVE® recycled polyester, repurposing plastic bottles into soft, sustainable fabric. 9.3 Overall Score 10 Value 9 Edge Support 10 Trial Period 8 Response Time 9 Motion Transfer 10 Cooling & Breathability How Lying Down Feels?Testing Glacier Apex Hybrid, I remember thinking—this is what weightlessness must feel like. There’s this immediate sense of plushness from the Euro top that welcomes your body in a way that’s neither too soft nor overly firm. It’s like being cradled gently without sinking too deep. As I settled in, I could feel the mattress responding to every contour of my body—supportive at the lower back, softly cushioned around my shoulders and hips. That cool-to-the-touch cover wasn’t just a gimmick; it genuinely felt like the bed had its own built-in breeze. Even after lying still for a while, I never felt that uncomfortable warmth that builds up on some foam beds. Instead, the Glacier Apex Hybrid stayed consistently breathable, which made it easier to drift into deeper rest.Shifting positions was effortless. I’m a bit of a restless sleeper, and I noticed that rolling from my back to my side didn’t come with that stuck-in-the-mud feeling you get with some memory foam mattresses. The hybrid construction—with over 1,000 individually wrapped coils—gave it just the right bounce and responsiveness without sacrificing motion isolation.By the time I woke up, I realized I hadn’t shifted around nearly as much as I usually do. My body felt aligned, my muscles relaxed, and there was no overheating or tossing and turning. For someone who sleeps hot and switches positions frequently, the Glacier Apex Hybrid offered that rare combination of cool, cloud-like comfort with stable, full-body support. Tester Feedback:Across dozens of user reviews, the Glacier Apex Hybrid stands out for delivering exactly what it promises—cool, cloud-like sleep with just the right amount of support. One user shared, “This mattress actually feels cold when you lie down. I didn’t think that was possible, but it works. I sleep through the night without overheating.” That’s a testament to the mattress’s GLACIERTECH° Elite Cooling Cover, which disperses heat on contact and keeps the sleep surface consistently breathable.Another happy customer wrote, “My partner tosses and turns, but I don’t feel a thing. The motion isolation is amazing, and the edge support is super solid.” This feedback points to the effectiveness of the individually wrapped coil system and EdgeZONE™ support, which our team of testers also praised during evaluation.Several reviewers also noticed real relief from pressure points. One commented, “It cushions my hips and shoulders, but still keeps my spine aligned. I wake up without back pain now.” That’s the result of the CarbonICE™ graphite-infused foam and CopperELEMENT™ performance layer working in harmony to provide both cooling and ergonomic support.Importantly, these real-world insights align with the professional assessment of Dr. Burns, a sleep specialist. He highlighted the Apex Hybrid’s impressive cooling features and zoned support system—validating what many users are experiencing night after night. In short, the Glacier Apex Hybrid continues to win over both experts and everyday sleepers alike. Inside the Mattress:The first thing I noticed was the cool-to-the-touch surface—this isn’t just a soft fabric; it’s made from what they call GlacierTECH® Elite Cooling material. It instantly felt cooler under my hand and stayed that way, even after lying on it for a while.Right beneath that cooling cover is a quilted pillowtop that feels plush but not too soft. As I pressed down, I could feel firmer support through the center—this turned out to be their ChiroZONE™ lumbar zone. When lying on it, my lower back felt lifted and supported in a way that kept my spine comfortably aligned.Underneath that, there’s a memory foam layer called CarbonICE™, which is infused with graphite. It molded to my body nicely without that trapped heat feeling. I could tell the graphite was doing its job drawing warmth away, as the surface never felt overly warm even after several minutes.Next, I reached a more responsive foam infused with copper—this added a light bounce and made movement easier. It also gave the mattress a “clean” feel, probably due to the copper’s antimicrobial properties. It didn’t hug me quite like memory foam, but it balanced the contouring with just the right amount of pushback.Further down, I encountered the ARCFlow™ ventilated foam. You can see and feel the channels cut into it, designed to promote airflow. When I shifted around on the bed, I noticed air movement that helped keep the surface fresh and cool. It felt like it was working behind the scenes to support and ventilate at the same time.Below the foam layers is the coil system, which consists of over 1,000 individually wrapped coils. Each spring moved independently, and when I tested motion transfer by rolling side to side, there was barely any bounce. The edges held up well when I sat down, giving the mattress a stable perimeter. At the very base, there’s a thick, dense foam foundation. It’s solid and firm, clearly built to support the entire structure. Even after pressing hard, it didn’t sink or shift, which tells me this base is meant to last and hold everything above it together. The top layer is made of Amerisleep’s proprietary Bio-Pur® foam, an open-cell, plant-based memory foam that offers superior breathability and responsiveness compared to traditional memory foams. Beneath this lies the Active Flex layer, exclusive to the AS5, which adds a responsive bounce, preventing the “stuck” feeling often associated with softer mattresses. Our analysis revealed that the AS5 excels in providing targeted pressure relief, particularly beneficial for side sleepers and individuals under 130 pounds. The Affinity foam layer with HIVE® technology offers zoned support, ensuring that areas like the shoulders and hips are cushioned appropriately, promoting healthy spinal alignment. Temperature regulation is a critical factor in sleep quality, and the AS5 addresses this with its Refresh cooling cover. This cover is designed to draw heat away from the body, maintaining a surface temperature up to 7 degrees cooler over an eight-hour period. Additionally, the Bio-Pur® foam’s open-cell structure enhances airflow, further contributing to a cooler sleep environment. Amerisleep’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the AS5’s construction. The Bio-Pur® and Bio-Core® foams are partially made from plant-based materials, reducing reliance on petroleum-based products. Moreover, all foams used are CertiPUR-US® certified, ensuring they are free from harmful chemicals and have low VOC emissions. While the AS5 offers exceptional comfort, it’s important to note that its ultra-soft feel may not be suitable for everyone. Back and stomach sleepers, or those who prefer a firmer mattress, might find it too soft for their needs. Additionally, the mattress lacks reinforced edge support, which could be a consideration for those who sit or sleep near the bed’s edge. The Amerisleep AS5 stands out as a top-tier option for those seeking a soft, supportive, and eco-friendly mattress. Its combination of advanced materials, targeted support, and cooling technologies makes it a compelling choice for side sleepers and individuals desiring a plush sleep surface. The mattress kept my spine aligned without flattening out that cozy, plush feel.Stomach sleeping: This is where the AS5 felt a bit too soft. My hips dipped slightly, which might be uncomfortable long-term for heavier stomach sleepers.Staying Cool All NightOne thing I really appreciated was the temperature control. I tend to overheat while sleeping, but the Refresh cooling cover and open-cell Bio-Pur® foam kept the surface cool even after a full night’s sleep. It’s a subtle difference, but I woke up feeling fresher and less clammy than usual — a huge win for hot sleepers. Tester Feedback:We didn’t just take the manufacturer’s word for it — we dove into dozens of real customer reviews, and the verdict? The Amerisleep AS5 lives up to the “cloud-like” hype, especially for side sleepers. One user put it best: “It’s very soft but supportive. I’m a side sleeper and no longer have pain in the morning. Highly recommend!!!” That’s a recurring theme — the AS5’s plush feel, thanks to its Bio-Pur® foam and flexible Active Flex layer, makes it a dream for anyone who sleeps on their side or craves serious pressure relief.Another sleeper shared a different experience: “I prefer plush mattresses and thought I’d be set… but the first night I woke up with lower back and shoulder pain.” That’s a solid reminder — if you’re a stomach sleeper or someone who likes firmer support, the AS5 might feel too soft. It really shines when you need deep cushioning and a gentle cradle. These impressions match what our expert testers — including sleep specialist Dr. Burns — found during hands-on testing. The AS5 is designed to relieve pressure without trapping heat, and that checks out: multiple users praised the cool-to-the-touch cover and breathable foam layers that help keep sweaty nights at bay. Inside the Mattress: Let’s unzip the mystery and take a peek inside — layer by layer.1. Refresh Cooling CoverRight off the bat, the AS5 greets you with a cool-to-the-touch cover that actually feels cool — not just on night one, but consistently. It’s made with Refresh fabric, which is designed to pull heat away from your body. Basically, it helps you stay chill without cranking the AC.2. 3” of Bio-Pur® FoamThis is the layer that makes you go “ahhh” when you first lie down. Amerisleep’s Bio-Pur® foam is plant-based, breathable, and way more responsive than traditional memory foam. It gives you that gentle sink without that dreaded stuck feeling. Side sleepers, this is your happy place.3. 2” Active Flex LayerNow here’s where it gets interesting. This layer adds a little bounce to balance out the softness. It’s like the middleman between “cozy sink” and “hey, I need to move.” Perfect if you toss, turn, or change positions through the night.4. 2” Affinity Layer with HIVE®Zoned support sounds technical, but it just means this layer knows where your body needs more love. Softer under shoulders and hips, firmer under your back — it’s like the mattress is paying attention to your pressure points.5. 7” Bio-Core® BaseDown at the bottom, this thick, durable layer keeps everything in place. It’s sturdy, strong, and ensures your mattress doesn’t sag or give out after a few months. Think of it as the foundation that makes the whole soft setup work long-term. Pros and Cons:ProsExcellent pressure relief for side sleepersPlush yet responsive feel — no “stuck” sensationGreat motion isolation for couplesSleeps noticeably cool thanks to Refresh coverConsToo soft for stomach sleepers or heavier back sleepers What the testers say: “The Amerisleep AS5 provided a plush feel without sacrificing support. Claim Deal Watch Our Amerisleep AS6 Black Series Video ReviewFinding the ideal cloud mattress for couples can be challenging—comfort, support, and motion isolation all need to work together seamlessly. After extensive research and rigorous testing, our team confidently recommends the Amerisleep AS6 Black Series (Plush) as a top contender in 2026.Why the AS6 Black Series Stands Out for CouplesWe analyzed how this mattress combines advanced materials and thoughtful design to create a sleep experience that feels like floating on a soft, supportive cloud. Here’s what makes it perfect for two:Plush Yet Supportive Feel: The AS6 features Amerisleep’s signature Bio-Pur® memory foam, which is plant-based and designed to be more breathable and responsive than traditional memory foam. Our testers loved how it offers a soft, plush surface that still provides excellent spinal support—perfect for couples who want comfort without compromising alignment.Exceptional Motion Isolation: One of the biggest concerns for couples is feeling every movement their partner makes. We tested the AS6 thoroughly and found that its memory foam layers significantly reduce motion transfer. This means less tossing and turning caused by your partner’s movements, helping both of you stay undisturbed through the night.Temperature Regulation: Thanks to the breathable nature of Bio-Pur foam, the AS6 sleeps cooler than many other memory foam mattresses. Our team appreciated how this feature helps prevent overheating, a common problem for couples sharing a bed.Durable Edge Support: The mattress is reinforced around the edges, increasing the usable sleeping surface and preventing that sinking feeling when sitting or sleeping near the edge. This adds to the overall comfort and practicality, especially for couples. What Our Testing RevealedOur team of testers spent multiple nights assessing the Amerisleep AS6 Black Series for its cloud-like softness combined with reliable support. We found it excels in:Cradling pressure points without causing a “stuck” sensationBalancing softness with firmness in all sleeping positionsMinimizing partner disturbance thanks to excellent motion absorptionKeeping a consistent cool temperature throughout the night 9.3 Overall Score 9 Value 9 Edge Support 9 Trial Period 9 Response Time 10 Motion Transfer 10 Cooling & Breathability How Lying Down Feels?Let’s cut to the chase—this mattress feels really good. The moment I laid down, it was like flopping into a soft cloud that knew exactly how to hold me. Plush, cozy, and just the right amount of give. It didn’t swallow me whole like some ultra-soft beds do, but it definitely made me want to stay put. That First relief MomentYou know that feeling when your body finally relaxes after a long day? That’s what hit me immediately. Here’s what stood out:Soft where it should be – My shoulders and hips sank in gently, taking pressure off my joints.Supportive where it counts – My lower back still felt aligned, which isn’t always the case with plush beds.Zero resistance – I could shift around without feeling stuck or weighed down. It’s the kind of mattress that makes your body go, “Yep, this is the one.”Sharing the Bed? No Problem.Sleeping with a partner can be tricky. Someone’s always rolling over, getting up, or stealing the blanket. I noticed right away how little I felt when my partner moved—even when they fully got out of bed. That’s a big deal. Here’s why:No bounce – The foam really soaks up movement.Steady edges – We could both stretch out to the sides without feeling like we’d roll off.Even surface – No dips or weird spots, even after nights of sleep.Basically, it passed the couple’s test with flying colors.Stayed Cool All NightPlush mattresses sometimes trap heat—but not this one. The AS6 felt surprisingly breathable. I didn’t wake up hot or sweaty, which I usually do on softer foam beds. The secret? It’s made with Bio-Pur® foam, which has a more open structure than regular memory foam. Translation: better airflow, less heat buildup. Tester Feedback: Cooling Comfort That LastsMany users have praised the AS6 Black Series for its advanced cooling technology. One reviewer noted, “The CryoCool™ cover provides an immediate cool-to-touch sensation, and the TitanAir™ layer disperses heat effectively.” This aligns with expert assessments, such as Dr. Jordan Burns, who emphasized the mattress’s ability to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the night. Supportive Yet PlushCouples have found the AS6 Black Series to offer a perfect balance between softness and support. A user mentioned, “The Bio-Pur® memory foam contours to our bodies, relieving pressure points without making us feel stuck.” This sentiment is echoed in expert reviews, which highlight the mattress’s ability to provide personalized comfort while maintaining spinal alignment.Motion Isolation for Undisturbed SleepThe mattress’s motion isolation capabilities have been a highlight for many. One couple shared, “We no longer wake each other up when moving during the night.” This feature is particularly beneficial for light sleepers and is supported by expert evaluations that commend the AS6 Black Series for minimizing motion transfer.Edge Support Enhances Usable SpaceUsers have also appreciated the mattress’s strong edge support. A reviewer stated, “We can sit or sleep near the edge without feeling like we’re going to roll off.” This characteristic is crucial for couples who want to maximize their sleeping surface and is corroborated by expert analyses emphasizing the mattress’s sturdy perimeter. Inside the Mattress:First up, the CryoCool™ cover is like that perfect cool breeze on a warm day. It’s made with special fibers that pull heat away from your body right when you hit the bed. No more flipping the pillow to the “cool side” — this mattress has got you covered.Next, the TitanAir™ foam is a titanium-infused memory foam that’s all about keeping things breathable while hugging your curves. It’s soft but won’t swallow you whole — think of it like a gentle cloud that adjusts as you move.If you’re someone who wakes up sweaty, these ArcticWave™ cooling bands are here to save your night. They work behind the scenes absorbing and spreading heat so you stay fresh, even if your partner tends to run hot. Here’s a cool fact: the Bio-Pur® foam layer is made from plants! It’s open-cell, so it breathes well, and gives just enough bounce and softness without trapping heat.Zoned Support Thanks to Affinity Foam: This layer is all about giving your body the right kind of love where it needs it most. With special cutouts,it’s softer around your shoulders and firmer under your hips and lower back — helping you keep that good sleep posture. The Heart: PrecisionCoil™ Springs: Deep down, the individually wrapped coils do the heavy lifting. They give you that springy support, reduce motion transfer (bye-bye partner tossing and turning!), and keep the mattress sturdy from edge to edge. Finally, a tough 1-inch base layer holds everything together so your mattress stays comfy and reliable for years. Cloud mattresses aren’t for everyone, especially those who need one of the best firm mattresses in order to avoid pain. But they can make amazing sleep surfaces for many sleepers. What is a Cloud Mattress?A cloud mattress creates the illusion of sleeping on a cloud. This type of mattress provides a soft, plush, and weightless feel. It also has a gentle contour. Ideally, a cloud mattress should also deliver cooling comfort, as a cooling mattress helps enhance the illusion that you’re sleeping on a cloud.Cloud mattresses are typically on the softer side, meaning firmer mattresses will not create the illusion that you’re sleeping on a fluffy cloud. See our firm vs soft mattress guide for more information. However, cloud mattresses cannot create this illusion without having a certain amount of buoyancy, which means they’ve got to have some pretty serious support underneath all those cushy foam layers.SEE ALSO: Best Hybrid Mattress for Side SleepersIdeal Mattress Materials for Cloud MattressDifferent mattress materials make for better and worse cloud mattresses. Some mattress materials are incredibly good at creating the illusion of sleeping on a cloud, while other types of mattresses leave a lot to be desired.1. Memory FoamMemory foam is a decent material for cloud mattresses, as long as certain conditions are met. Memory foam mattresses are extremely contouring and very good at molding themselves to your shape. This means it offers incredible pressure relief and amazing spinal alignment. However, part of the illusion of sleeping on a cloud is buoyancy. While it makes for excellent mattresses for pressure points, memory foam is so contouring that sometimes it can lack buoyancy. This means memory foam will need layers of support underneath to ensure you don’t sink into the sleep surface.Memory foam mattresses also tend to retain lots of heat, which can negatively impact the cloud illusion. This means gel memory foam, mineral-infused memory foam, or plant-based memory foam options are best for a cloud mattress because they ensure coolness. As long as you’re getting a cooling memory foam mattress that features technologies to increase buoyancy and improve heat-dissipating power, you should be able to get the illusion of sleeping on a cloud out of your mattress.SEE ALSO: Best Full Size Mattress to Buy2. Latex FoamNatural latex foam is potentially the best foam for cloud mattresses. This is because latex isn’t just contouring and adaptable, but it’s also buoyant and cooling. This means a latex mattress is naturally adapted to creating the illusion of sleeping on a cloud. With a natural or organic latex mattress, you will experience a feeling of weightlessness that other mattresses have a difficult time achieving. And you will get the right amount of responsiveness to complete the cloud illusion. You won’t be bounced around like you’re sleeping on a trampoline. But you won’t be waiting for body impressions to spring back, either. The breathability of natural latex also creates an airy feeling, just like a cloud. The main problem with a latex cloud mattress is that certain types of latex may not contour well enough to create a perfect cloud illusion. For instance, Dunlop latex is very dense and will be more buoyant than contouring. Talalay latex, on the other hand, is still buoyant and springy but offers more contouring. See our guide to Talalay vs Dunlop latex guide. This means for the best cloud illusion, you’ll want to go with a soft Dunlop mattress to get the full amount of pressure relief, or a medium-soft Talalay latex mattress for a bit more cloudlike buoyancy.3. HybridHybrid mattresses make wonderful cloud mattresses. Hybrids combine a layer of individually encased pocketed coils for support with a comfort layer of at least two inches of any type of foam. The right caliber coils and foam layers can create a fantastic cloud mattress.Hybrid mattresses can be extremely firm and supportive, so you’ll want to stick with softer hybrids to create the cloud illusion. You may also want to consider gel memory foam or latex foam for the coolest cloud possible. If you want the buoyancy of latex and the contouring of memory foam, you can even get both in the same hybrid mattress.Just watch out for the price. Even though latex mattresses are more expensive than hybrids upfront, hybrid mattresses will wear out faster than all-foam mattresses. This means that hybrid mattresses are the most expensive over time.If you want a hybrid mattress for your cloud mattress, expect to pay more not just because of the initial price but because you’re replacing the mattress more often. However, for some sleepers, the weightless feel of a hybrid beats out other considerations.4. InnerspringInnerspring mattresses, as a general rule, do not make good cloud mattresses. This is because of several different issues that innerspring mattresses have. The main issue with these mattresses is the open coil support core.Open coils are not individually wrapped and are wired together into a network. This means that open coil systems typically bounce way too much to make good cloud mattress material. They amplify motion and transfer it all over the bed, which is something that a cloud mattress should never do.Possibly the biggest problem with open coils is the fact that they exert a lot of pressure because they cannot move individually. They move as a unit. Combine this with the fact that many innerspring mattresses come with insufficient comfort layers, and you’ve got a mattress that feels more like sleeping on a bouncy, unstable trampoline than a cloud. However, well-made pillow top mattresses with innerspring support may work well as cloud mattresses. Some modern mattresses may even have pocketed coils with open coils for thorough support.SEE ALSO: Pillow Top vs. Innerspring Mattress: What’s The Difference?Ideal Mattress Firmness for a Cloud MattressTypically, the ideal mattress firmness for a cloud mattress is on the softer side. If you want a cloud mattress, going for a mattress that falls within the soft to medium range is the best option to achieve the cloud illusion. The bad news is that not everyone can sleep on a softer mattress, which means that not everyone can have a cloud mattress. Even if you cannot enjoy a full cloud mattress, there are some things you can do to help create the illusion of sleeping on a cloud while still having the firmness level that you need.Sleep PositionIf you are a side or a combo sleeper, we have good news for you. You can easily get a cloud mattress because you need soft to medium mattresses anyway. If you are a back or stomach sleeper, unfortunately, you need firmer mattresses than those that typically fall into the category of cloud mattresses. But if you get highly contouring and pressure-relieving materials, you may be able to make up for your high firmness needs to have at least some cloud illusion.1. Back SleepersBack sleepers need a combination of support and pressure relief to ensure that their bodies stay lifted onto the sleep surface and their spine remains aligned throughout the night. They need a mattress for back sleeping that can both follow the curves of their spines while at the same time ensuring they do not sink.Usually, medium-firm mattresses (6 of 10) best fit the needs of back sleepers because they offer lots of lift and support without losing all their contouring. If you want to create the cloud illusion with a medium-firm mattress, consider a gel memory foam hybrid mattress, which will offer lots of contouring and adaptability to help foster the feeling of sleeping on a cloud.2. Combo SleepersCombination sleepers do not have a strong preference for any single sleep position. Rather, they will sleep in any position that occurs to them at any point. This means they need highly versatile mattresses for combo sleepers that can accommodate all sleep positions equally. The good news for combo sleepers who want a cloud mattress is that medium mattresses (5 of 10) are typically best for combination sleepers. It’s very easy to achieve the cloud illusion with a medium mattress as long as you stick to materials that offer lots of pressure relief and breathability, like natural latex or gel memory foam.3. Side SleepersIf you’re a side sleeper, you fit right into the ideal cloud mattress firmness range. Side sleepers typically need the softest mattresses of all sleep positions because when you sleep on your side, your body presses one of your hip and shoulder joints into the bed. This can lead to pain if your mattress does not have enough pressure relief. This is why soft or medium-soft mattresses (3 to 4 of 10) are best for side sleepers, though many enjoy the supportive feel of a medium. Just make sure when browsing mattresses for side sleepers, pick materials that do not sacrifice breathability and buoyancy for the full cloud experience.4. Stomach SleepersStomach sleepers need the firmest mattresses, which means they will have the hardest time getting a cloud mattress. When you sleep on your stomach, your pelvis sinks into the bed. This can lead to overarching in the spine and pain in the lower back. A firm mattress (7 of 10) counteracts this sinkage and helps keep the spine aligned to prevent pain. This means stomach sleepers should prioritize firm to extra firm mattresses that can keep their spines aligned over getting a cloud mattress. If you want to create as much of a cloud illusion as possible, you can get highly contouring materials like gel memory foam. However, you do not want to forgo a firm mattress for stomach sleeping.5. Body TypeYour body weight may impact your firmness needs and, by extension, your ability to get a true cloud mattress. If you fall within the mattress industry’s definition of the average human weight range – 130 to 230 pounds – you don’t have to do anything with your firmness level. You can just pick the firmness that corresponds to your sleep position. If you weigh more or less than this, you will need to take that into account when selecting your ideal firmness.6. Petite SleepersPetite sleepers weigh less than 130 pounds. Weighing less than this can mean you experience issues with not getting enough compression out of your mattress. This, in turn, means the ideal mattress for lightweight sleepers may be a little softer than the one that normally matches your sleep position. For instance, combination sleepers normally need medium mattresses. But petite combo sleepers often do better on medium-soft ones. This means it’s even easier for petite sleepers to get cloud mattresses.7. Plus-Size SleepersIf you’re over 230 pounds, you may have a harder time getting a cloud mattress because you will need to go up a firmness level from the one that matches your sleep position. This is because heavier sleepers often have problems with too much compression if they get mattresses that match their sleep styles. For example, if you are a heavier back sleeper, then a firm mattress rather than a medium-firm mattress might be ideal for you. Such a mattress for heavy people will give you the same amount of contouring and support that a medium-firm mattress would give an average-weight back sleepers.SEE ALSO: Best Adjustable Bed and Mattress ComboLearn more about better sleepSign up for sleep health education, expert tips, and the latest and greatest mattress sales. They need to be soft, buoyant, and cool. Many different types of mattresses can fit this bill, including many all-foam and hybrid models.Furthermore, different people have different ideas about what sleeping on a cloud should feel like. This means your cloud mattress may not be everyone else’s cloud mattress. At the end of the day, a cloud mattress is the one that feels most like sleeping on a cloud to you.Should hot sleepers use a cloud mattress?Hot sleepers should absolutely use cloud mattresses because one of the main attributes of a cloud mattress is that it has to be cool. Side sleepers who also sleep hot could especially benefit from cloud mattresses. This is because softer mattresses tend to retain heat since they hug your body and cover more of its surface area. This can cause them to hold onto more body heat than firmer mattresses do. However, cloud mattresses are cooling and breathable, just like a cloud, which can help side sleepers who also sleep hot get a better night’s rest. What’s the best cloud mattress material? There are several different cloud mattress materials that can give you the weightless and cooling experience you want. If we had to pick the absolute best cloud mattress material, we would pick latex. This buoyant and breathable material best imitates the feel of a fluffy cloud. However, some people are allergic to latex, and it is also extremely expensive. If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative, check out gel memory foam mattresses or gel memory foam hybrids. The gel helps pull heat away from your body, while the plush and contouring feel of the memory foam can help create the cloud illusion. This is especially true if you are sleeping on buoyant and supportive pocketed coils. Can firmer mattresses be cloud mattresses?Generally speaking, firmer mattresses cannot be cloud mattresses because they are too hard to imitate the feeling of sleeping on a cloud. With the cloud mattress, you want a sense of weightlessness that can only come from lots of pressure relief. It’s important to remember that getting the right amount of support for your body weight and sleep position is more important to a good night’s sleep than having a cloud mattress. So if you’re a stomach or back sleeper, you should prioritize firmness over that cloudlike feeling. If you still would like to have the feel of a cloud mattress, you could consider purchasing a firmer mattress that suits your sleep style and then placing a pressure-relieving and cooling mattress topper on top of it.How much should I pay for a cloud mattress? How much you pay for a cloud mattress depends on its size, brand, and materials. Of course, the bigger the mattress, the more expensive it will be. Some mattress brands also charge a lot more for their name than others. The biggest factor that decides your mattress price is going to be its construction. On average, the most affordable cloud mattresses are made of memory foam.Latex cloud mattresses are the most expensive upfront, but the fact that they last just shy of forever means their cost is offset over time. The most expensive cloud mattress overall will be a hybrid mattress because it is still quite expensive upfront and not as durable as natural latex.Bottom LineGetting a cloud mattress doesn’t have to be a hassle. All you have to remember is three factors: cooling, buoyancy, and pressure relief. If you get the right mix of these, then any of the best mattresses can be a cloud mattress in your book!Dr. Burns tests each mattress at eachnight’s facility to make sure the recommendations are based on real, expert reviews.
